Various accredited universities offer Courses in Education for prospective students who want to be teachers. The universities have course specific requirements for the various Arts and Sciences courses. They also offer various teaching subjects combinations. Here are the Education courses offered at Chuka University and links to their application portals:

 CHUKA UNIVERSITY EDUCATION COURSES

The university offers a wide range of education courses in its Faculty of Education.Mode of StudyThe University offers three modes of study in Chuka Campus and Embu Town Campus:
  •          Fulltime – in September, January and May Semesters
  •          School Based – in April, August and December sessions
  •          Evening/weekend – in September, January and May Semesters
  •     Open and Distance learning-“NEW”
Bachelor of Education Course Requirements:
  1. Mean grade C+ (Plus) at KCSE and at least C+ in each of the two teaching subjects,
  2. 2 principal passes at A’Level and 1 subsidiary in relevant subjects,
  3. Diploma in Education (May be exempted in relevant units).
  4. P1 teachers must have scored C+ at KCSE to qualify.

  2. SUBJECT 2: MAT A / MAT B; C
  3. SUBJECT 3: BIO / PHY / CHE / PSC / BSC / BIO / GSC: C+
Bachelor of Education(Arts) Admission Requirements
  1. Mean grade C+ (plus) at KCSE and at least C+ in each of the two teaching subjects chosen,
  2. 2 Principal passes at A’Leveland1 Subsidiary in relevant subjects,
  3. Diploma in Education.
  4. P1teachers must have scored a mean grade of C+ at KCSE with at least C+ in two teaching subjects chosen.
Bachelor of Education(Science) Admission Requirements
  1. Mean grade of C+(Plus) at KCSE with at least C (Plain) in Mathematics and C+ in each of the two teaching subjects or 2 Principal passes and 1 Subsidiary pass at A’ Level in Mathematics,
  2. Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Diploma in Education.

HOW TO APPLY

a) Application Procedure
  1. Non-refundable Application Fee (Kshs 3,000 for PhD. Programmes, KShs 2,000 for Masters Degree & Diploma, Kshs 1,000 for Certificate Courses)
  2. Complete and signed application form Download application form here
  3. Originals & a copy of all Transcripts, Diplomas or Certificates (All originals, where necessary, will be returned)
  4. One recent passport size photograph (write your name on reverse side)
  5. Copy of the National Identity Card or Birth Certificate
  6. Research Concept paper (PhD. Only)
Application fee must be paid to; Account Name; Chuka University College, Kenya Commercial Bank; Account No: 1103755439 OR Cooperative Bank; Account No: 0112905818900.b) Certified copies of certificates and original fee payment receipt MUST be attached to the application form and returned latest two weeks prior to the commencement dates given for the programmes.c) One Academic Year is equivalent to 2 semesters for full-time or 3 blocks for school-based mode.d) Diploma holders may take a shorter period to complete a Bachelors degree after credit transfer.e) Preferred Campus should be indicated on the application form.
