TSC transfers some County Directors in 2025- See details

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has affected some changes of its directors to open the new year.

The movement involve a new appointment and a few transfers of officials to new stations.

Those affected include Erick Magak who now been named the new Nyamira County Director replacing Catherine Mwenda who has been deployed to Nyeri in similar capacity.

Mwenda reports to the station taking over from George Thuo who leaves office to pursue personal interests.

Also affected by changes is George Ekeno Kapus who leaves Kisii County as deputy director to land in Vihiga in similar capacity.

Several changes are expected soon to replace a good number of field directors expected to retire after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60.

Information available within tsc circles indicates directors overseeing Kisii,Kilifi,Siaya and Isiolo would be retiring from office anytime from now.

Also leaving office on retirement grounds are regional Directors in western ,Rift valley and Nairobi.

It’s further understood that the Nyanza Regional Director’s seat will fall vacant if the current impasse surrounding the appointment of Jane Njage as a Commissioner at the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) is resolved.

Teachers urged to enter the global teacher prize, 2019.

The teachers’ Service Commission has urged teachers to participate at the  annual global teacher prize competition. The teachers are expected to nominate an outstanding teacher. Through a circular copied to all the 47 county directors by madam Rita Wamuyu Wahome, the Acting Director Staffing Division, the County directors “are requested to encourage innovation by advising teachers to apply for the above mentioned (global teacher prize-2019) prize”.

An attached communique reads, “as you may know, since 2015, we have been running the Global Teacher Prize, a Us $1 million award presented annually to an exceptional teacher who has made an outstanding contribution to their profession. The prize serves to underline the importance of educators and the fact that, throught the world, their efforts deserve to be recognized and celebrated. It seeks to acknowledge the impacts of the very best teachers- not only on their students but on the communities around them”.

The closing date has been extended to 23rd September 2018.
