 Brief History of Garissa TTC.

Founded by the Government of Kenya in 1992, the college officially opened its doors to its first cohort of students in September 1996. Its initial mandate was training primary school teachers for P1 and P2 certificates.

An important transition occurred in 2011 when the college’s original facilities were handed over to establish Garissa University College (now fully-fledged Garissa University). Garissa Teachers Training College subsequently relocated and established its new standalone campus infrastructure. To keep pace with national educational reforms, the college phased out certificate training in 2021 and shifted completely to competency-based diploma programs.
