After the successful conclusion of the Tharaka Nithi County secondary schools term 2 games championship, the following teams booked tickets to the 2019 Eastern Region games slated for 17th to 23rd June at Makueni Boys:

Winners in each category will book tickets to this year’s national Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) games to be staged in Kisumu boys from 26th July to 4th August, 2019.
Tanzania will host the 18th edition of the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Associations, FEASSA, games next year. The games that shall be staged in Mwanza will run from 15th to 24th Aigust, 2019. This is contained in a circular by Dr. Belio Kipsang who is the Ministry of Education Principal Secretary. This year’s edition, of the East Africa games, was held in Musanze Rwanda between 12th and 19th August, 2018. Tanzania, who missed this year’s edition, will now prepare to host the other countries from the East Africa region: Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan. Kenya were the overall winners of this year’s FEASSSA edition.

In the circular dated 17 September, 2018, Term 1 Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Associations (KSSSA) National games shall be staged in the Coastal region of Mombasa from April 5 to 14, 2019. Term 1 features games in: Basketball, Hockey, Rugby 15’s, Swimming, Handball and Athletics.
KSSSA National term 2 games will come back to the lake side city of Kisumu between 26 July to 4 August, 2019. The 2016 hosts will feature: Rugby 7’s, Netball, Football U16 & U19, Volleyball, Racquet games, Cross Country, Heptathlon and Decathlon. The games shall be staged at Kisumu boys and Kisumu girls at the heart of Kisumu City.

A transfer may have moved Mr Sanya from a hockey power house, Friends School Kamusinga, to little known ACK Eshitari Secondary school in Butere Sub- county but, the winning mentality is still rooted in him. Mr Sanya, now heading Eshitari Secondary, pulled a surprise by guiding his team to a sweet victory over perennial National Hockey Girls’ contenders, Buetere Girls, to win the Butere Sub- county finals held over this past weekend.
At the Sub- county Girls’ hockey final; played yesterday, Eshitari surprised Butere 3-1 in a pulsating encounter. Other results saw Butere boys clinch 4 titles in: Handball, Rugby 15’s, Basketball and Hockey.
The term one games take a one week break as schools are on half term break. Action resumes next week with the games culminating at the National stage to be held in April; at Shimo La Tewa High School- Mombasa.

In Ikolomani Sub- county Musingu boys were in a class of their own, clinching a total of four gold medals. Musingu, the 2018 Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association National Hockey Boys Silver finalists, had an easy walk in the park as there were no challengers for the hockey crown at the Sub- county last week. Tanzania is ready to host this year’s East Africa School games slated for August, 2019. The Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA); the body that runs the East Africa games, had earlier given the hosting rights to Mwanza. But, now Arusha has been given the green-light to host the 18th edition of the FEASSSA games that will run from 15th to 24th August, 2019. FEASSSA committee members have already inspected the accommodation and sports facilities to be used during the championship.
2018 GAMES IN MUSANZE, RWANDA.
Last year’s championship was staged in Musanze, Rwanda between 12th and 19th August, 2018. Tanzania, Burundi and South Sudan did not feature at the 2018 games.Tanzania and South Sudan cited financial constraints due to lack of government support for their withdrawals while Burundi’s participation was curtailed by the country’s sour diplomatic relationship with the host nation; Rwanda. The annual championship, which goes down in the month of August, is hosted on a rotational basis among the East Africa Countries and it involves such disciplines as: Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Handball, Netball, Rugby 15’s, Rugby 7’s, Hockey, Badminton, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Swimming and Athletics.
Kenya won the overall title last year after claiming 28 team medals; 10 gold, 8 silver and 10 bronze. Uganda came a close second after bagging a total of 25 medals; 9 gold, 10 silver and six bronze while the hosts, Rwanda, collected 16 medals with four of them being gold, five silver and seven bronze.
