Various accredited universities offer Courses in Education for prospective students who want to be teachers. The universities have course specific requirements for the various Arts and Sciences courses. They also offer various teaching subjects combinations. Egerton University has three (3) Campuses and one Campus College.
The main Campus is based at Njoro and houses the Faculties of Agriculture, Arts and Social Sciences, Education and Community Studies, Engineering and Technology, Environment and Resources Development, Science and Veterinary Medicine and Surgery. The Njoro Campus also houses the Board of Undergraduate Studies and Field Attachment, and the Board of Postgraduate Studies.
The other Campus is the Nairobi City Campus, offering programmes from the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, Commerce, and Education and Community Studies. It also hosts the African Centre for Distance Education (ACDE).
The third Campus, Kenyatta Campus, is located five (5) kilometres from Njoro Campus and is planned to house the Open and Distance Learning (CODL) programmes which is currently based at Njoro Campus. The only University’s Campus College, Nakuru Town Campus College, hosts the Faculties of Commerce and Health Sciences. The University currently has nine (9) faculties and fifty one (51) academic departments offering a wide range of programmes at diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels. All of them are open to both Government-sponsored and selfsponsored students.

a. Direct Entry
Kenya Secondary School leavers must satisfy the minimum University entrance requirements for public universities in Kenya. These standards may be obtained from the Registrar’s Office.

b. International Student Admission
Non-Kenyan applicants must have met minimum entry requirements for public College or equivalent in their own country of residence.
Non-Kenyan applicants must meet all admission requirements for the programme they wish to enter.
c. Transfer Student Admission
Transfer students may be admitted to advanced standing on presentation of an official transcript of satisfactory scholarship from an accredited degree level institution. KHU will accept credits of courses related to our programme in which a grade of “C” or better was attained.
d. Mature Age Entry Requirements (Limited to 10% of total student enrollment)
Under the mature age entry scheme students seeking admission must:
Possess a minimum grade of C on KCSE or its equivalent.*
Be 25 years of age or older on 1st September of the year admission is sought.
Achieve a minimum grade of C+ in each course taken to accumulate an initial 12 credit hours with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.3.
Have at least three years of experience in their respective profession.

Diploma Requirements
a. Direct Entry
Kenya Secondary School leavers must satisfy the minimum entrance requirements for public diploma institutions in Kenya. These standards may be obtained from the Registrar’s Office.

In order to achieve the mission and purposes of the college, applicants should recognize the importance of spiritual as well as academic prerequisites for satisfactory achievement of a quality Christian education.

2. English Proficiency Requirement
Students whose secondary school instruction language was not English should give evidence of English proficiency for approval by the Admissions Office.
Those whose first language is not English, and who attended schools in a country where English is not the official language are required to sit the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) to prove their proficiency, and to submit the score to the KHURegistrar.
The minimum acceptable score attained within the previous two years of application in TOEFL is 500.

Admission of candidates to the Co-operative University of Kenya programmes is open to all persons without discrimination on race, ethnicity, political opinion, gender or physical ability.

Universities are the highest learning institutions in Kenya and the World over. They offer training majorly in undegraduate and Post Graduate Studies. In Kenya, the Courses offered in the Universities must be accredited by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Services, KUCCPS. It is the same body that selects and places students to higher learning institutions; Universities, Colleges and Polytechnics. To qualify for University placement one must attain the minimum set Mean grade and particular course requirements. Each Course offered at particular university has its own cluster cut off points, though. Most university courses take a minimum of 4 years; while, some take even more. An academic year at the university takes two semesters of three months each. University students get fees loans from various organizations. Top on the list is the Higher Education Loans Board, HELB, that advances both loans and Bursaries. Universities run online platforms; portals and websites, where such services as admission application, online accommodation booking, E-learning, exams results downloads and many are provided to students, staff and the general public. On admissions, most universities have admissions in May and September for new students. Various learning modules are provided at the universities. Bachelor’s degree programmes require a minimum mean grade of C+ (C Plus) in KCSE. OR

2 Principal Passes at ‘A’ level obtained at one sitting OR two Principal Passes obtained at different sittings provided the scores are of grade C and above.
