Apply for TSC Teaching Vacancy: Step-by-Step Guide.

The Teachers Service Commission, TSC, has advertised several teaching vacancies for teachers. Learn how to successfully apply for the advertised TSC teaching vacancy in a formal and concise manner. Boost your chances of getting hired by TSC.

To apply for these positions, the following are the steps you need to take to be successful.

  1. Visit the Teachers Service commissions (TSC) online portal by using the link https://teachersonline.tsc.go.ke/
  2. Once you access the portal, you will see a link ‘active adverts for teachers’ written in red, click on it.
  3. You will then be redirected to the E-Recruitment portal which contains a list of all the open vacancies.
  4. Scroll to your desired post and click on ‘actions’ on the far right.
  5. From there you will be given two options ‘View/ apply’, you can view the details of the job then apply for the post.
  6. You can then Enter your Surname, ID and TSC numbers to proceed.
  7. Fill in the details that follow, they include, Basic, Professional, and other details to complete the application.

TSC advisory to teachers on Salary Pay Point

The Teachers Service Commission, TSC, has issued an advisory to teachers on their Salary Accounts (Salary Pay points). The Commission has now warned teachers against hurried closure of their salary accounts.

Why teachers close their salary accounts.

Teachers often change their salary pay points for various reasons.

For many teachers, the major reason is to access credit from financial institutions that require them to open salary accounts with them first.

For others, it is a migration to banks and Saccos that have a wide network of Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) or those whose debit cards are acceptable in many retail outlets such as supermarkets, hotels, petrol stations, hardware shops and so on.

Whenever you think of making a change, it is important to leave your old account open until your salary comes through the new account at least once. Depending on the time of the month, your request may arrive at TSC too late to be included in the current payroll.

This will cause you a lot of inconveniences because your salary will be posted to the account that you have just closed and the bank or Sacco will return it to TSC.

The financial institutions cannot channel your salary into a closed account even when it is clearly available in their system. Accounting regulations demand that such unapplied monies be returned back to sender.

What you should do in order to get your returned salary.

Should your salary be returned, the following are the events that will happen before the money gets back to you:

  • When doing their reconciliation, the Sacco or bank will discover this unapplied money.
  • The financial institution writes a cheque of the amount of your salary in favour of TSC and sends it to their headquarters.
  • The headquarters of this financial institution sends the cheque to TSC.
  • TSC banks this cheque and investigates the cause for return of salary.
  • Upon establishing closure of account as the reason for returned salary, the TSC writes to you requesting you to submit your current pay point details.
  • The current pay point details are captured on the payroll if you have not already submitted the request for change of account.
  • The returned salary is released to your new account.
  • If you don’t notice quickly that you haven’t been paid and consequently delay in taking action, the return salary cycles can go on for several months with your pay accumulating at TSC.

Clearly, it is advisable to always leave your old account open until your salary comes through the new one at least once. Also be proactive by filling the change of pay point form and attaching a certified copy each of your bank plate, ID card and latest pay slip and ensuring that these reach TSC.

Do not leave these with documents with your bank or Sacco for them to forward to TSC. This way, you will avoid the inconveniences of this lengthy process of releasing a returned salary to you.

Joining KUPPET union through online procedure

The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers – KUPPET, is a registered trade union that represents teachers in secondary schools and other post primary learning institutions. If you are a teacher, employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) ,then it is necessary that you join either KUPPET, KNUT and even KEWOTA (which is an association for female teachers).

The Labour Relations Act of Kenya (2007), Part VI Section 49 provides for deduction of Agency Fee from employees covered by Collective Agreements (CBAS). An employee paying agency fee is not a member of the union.

How to confirm KUPPET Membership from the the TSC online Payslip system.

To confirm your membership in KUPPET follow the following procedure:

  • Log in to TSC Payslip,
  • Click My Transaction and then Check Running Transaction Details,
  • For a KUPPET Member the Ref Account column should show “KUPPET”
  • For a teacher paying Agency Fee the Ref Account column shows “AGENCY FEE”

How to join KUPPET using Online T-Pay Registration System

1. Log in “TSC ONLINE PAYSLIP”
2. Go to “3RD PARTIES”
3. Click “CLICK HERE TO SEND YOUR PAYSLIP
4. Click “SELECT CATEGORY”
5. Go to “SWA”
6. Select “COMPANY CATEGORY”
7. Go to “KUPPET UNION DUES”
8. Click “SEND PAYSLIP
(A message “Pay slip for this month has already been sent to KUPPET UNION DUES” will appear).
9. Alert the branch office by sending your Official Name, TSC Number and Name of Institution by SMS to the executive secretary or any elected Branch Executive Committee (BEC) member. The will follow it up with the TSC to ensure that you union membership status is updated.

The same process is followed when joining KNUT and KEWOTA online.

Joining a union of your choice is a noble action that you should embrace. Being a union member enables you to participate in the election process at branch level. The union can as well arbitrate in matters between teachers and the employer, TSC.

How to apply for TSC recruitment

TSC Recruitment Application Process – Step-by-Step Guide.

Learn how to apply for TSC recruitment in a formal and structured manner. Get all the information you need to successfully navigate the application process.

The Teachers Service Commission, TSC, has advertised several teaching vacancies. You should follow the steps below to submit your online application. Note that all interested candidates must submit their application forms online through the TSC online recruitment portal.

Step 1: Visit the TSC portal on an internet-enabled device. A laptop or desktop computer is recommended. You can also use your mobile phone.

Step 2: Sign in to the portal and click Active Adverts for Teachers. You will be redirected to a page with a list of open vacancies.

Step 3: Scroll to your desired post and click Actions. Click View/ Apply. You will view all the details related to the post. Enter your surname, ID, and TSC number to proceed.

Step 4: Fill in the details that follow to complete the application. Once done, click Submit to complete the process.

Successful applicants must produce these documents:

A copy of your National Identity Card or passport, A copy of your teacher registration certificate from the Teachers Service Commission, A copy of the National Council for Persons with Disability card (where applicable), A valid certificate of good conduct and Two coloured passport-size photographs. Also required are:  A copy of your National Health Insurance Fund card/ NHIF number and  A copy of the Kenya Revenue Authority Personal Identification Number (KRA PIN)
