    Kisii National Polytechnic seeks to recruit competent and qualified individuals to the following vacant positions.

    1. CARPENTER (1 POST) JOB GROUP KP 5
      REPORTS TO: ESTATES OFFICER

      This position is responsible for making woodwork products such as tables, desks, chairs, fitting cabinets and carries out general woodwork repairs in the institution.
      Main Duties
       Construct building frameworks like doorframes, windows and wall cabinets when needed to facilitate smooth operations in the institutions’ day to day operations.
       Inspects damaged wooden structures and repair them to enhance their usefulness and reduce deterioration.
       Select and specify the construction raw materials required to ensure the institution gets quality of required materials.
       Develop structures as instructed by user department and ensure the products meet the institutions functional needs.
       Maintain and repair wooden structures to enhance usefulness of the structures and support the institutions operations.
       Follows laid out process and procedures in his operations to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
       Assists students during their practicals by providing direction on handling and usage of tools.
       Clean the workshop and arrange the tools to create a safe and functional operating environment.
      REQUIREMENTS
      The applicants must have
       Craft Certificate in Carpentry or equivalent from a recognized institution.
       Proficiency in Computer skills
       At least three (3) years’ experience.
    2. FASHION AND DESIGN TECHNICIAN (1 POST) JOB GROUP KP 7
      REPORTS TO: HEAD OF DEPARTMENT FASHION DESIGN AND CLOTHING TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT

      This position is responsible in the provision of technical support to the trainer in charge of the section, contributing to trainees’ learning experience by assisting with the preparation of equipment and machinery for practical work to promote understanding of course work and innovation

      Main Duties
       Provide support to trainers and trainees in solving technical problems and practicals
       Maintain workshop inventories by receiving, issuing tools and materials in the workshop and ensure sufficient materials in the workshop
       Observe and ensure health and safety procedures are practiced and enforced and accidents reported to the section head
       Requisition for consumables to ensure they are replenished in a timely manner and organize in a way that they are easily traced
       Prepare maintenance schedule for all the workshop equipment for approval by head of department and maintain requisite records on servicing schedule on various equipment and machinery to ensure the schedule is adhered to.
       Advise the head of department on the budgeting requirement of the workshop to ensure that all the requirements of the workshop are budgeted for
       Segregate non-functional equipment and machinery to promote safety in the workshop.
       Provide procurement specifications for workshop equipment to be purchased to ensure purchase of the correct equipment/machinery
       Report breakdown of machinery and equipment to the head of the section to advise on replacement needs
       Supervise cleaning of the workshop to promote general cleanliness of the workshop and equipment and provide a conducive environment for trainings and practicals
      REQUIREMENTS

       Diploma in Fashion Design from a recognized institution

    3. FOOD AND BEVERAGE TECHNICIAN (1 POST) JOB GROUP KP 7
      REPORTS TO: HEAD OF DEPARTMENT FOOD AND BEVERAGE

    4. DEPUTY PROCUREMENT OFFICER (1 POST) JOB GROUP KP 9
      REPORTS TO: PROCUREMENT OFFICER

      This position is responsible for procuring goods, works and services to ensure the institution’s requirements are met in accordance with the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act.
      Main Duties
       Deputize the Procurement Officer in performing the designated duties.
       Train users on the procurement rules, policies and procedures to enhance compliance by the user department and consequently the institution as a whole.
       Ensure compliance with relevant procurement laws and regulations in order to reduce exposure to risks associated with noncompliance.
       Participate in the development/revision of the institution’s procurement policies and procedures.
       Coordinate day to day activities in the procurement department to ensure smooth running of the department’s activities.
       Update of supplier master file with the qualified suppliers to enhance ease in the procurement of goods, works and services.
       Liaising with the Central stores for stock taking and to ensure that the stock levels are maintained.
       Any other duties assigned
      REQUIREMENTS
      The applicants must have:
       Degree in supplies management or its equivalent from a recognized institution
       Must be a registered member of KISM
       Proficiency in Computer skills
       Must be conversant with the Public procurement and Asset Disposal Act
       At least three years’ experience

    5. STORE KEEPER (1 POST) JOB GROUP KP 7
      REPORTS TO: PROCUREMENT OFFICER

      This position is responsible for providing support in the management of store operations.
      Main Duties
       Attend to store enquiries to ensure user departments are well informed of available stock and the corresponding stock levels to support efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of service.
       Issue and receipt of stores for storage and for timely issuance to the user department.
       Maintain accurate and up to date store records for accountability purposes.
       Label the stock as received to support easy identification and to protect against theft.
       Conduct sock checks in order to identify wear or defects to ensure such stock is replaced and accounted for in the books of account for cost management purposes.
       Provide suggestions on areas of improvement in the management of stock to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of service.
       Arrange received goods in the store to support ease in accessibility and retrieval, and to minimize accidents.
       Any other duties assigned
      REQUIREMENTS
      The applicants must have
       Diploma in Supplies management or storekeeping or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
       Proficiency in Computer skills
       Knowledge of Public Procurement and assets disposal Act and regulations
       Three (3) years’ experience in store keeping.
    6. NURSE (1 POST) JOB GROUP KP 7
      REPORTS TO: DEAN OF STUDENTS

      This position is responsible for assessing patients and clients through provision of appropriate healthcare services in the institution.
      Main Duties
       Assess, plan, implement nursing interventions and evaluate patients’ outcome.
       Examine, diagnose and treat patients in the Clinic.
       Regulate and monitor patient flow and progress by preparing patients for examination and assisting the clinical officer with procedure.
       Administer prescriptions as may be directed by the clinical officer and perform minor treatment procedures to patients.
       Keep and maintain records of patient conditions to be used as future reference point for treatment of the patient.
       Keep records of issuance of drugs to patients as a basis for subsequent requisitions
       Ensure tidiness of the clinic/dispensary to foster good hygiene and good working conditions.
       Sterilize medical tools and equipment to avoid infection.
       Ensure appropriate referral of patients in cases that require advanced treatment.
       Ensure proper disposal of used tools such as syringes and medicine to mitigate accidents.
       Prepare requisition list of medicine and medical tools for review by the clinical officer.
       Provide first aid services to a patient in cases of emergencies. Supervise cleaning of the workshop to promote general cleanliness of the clinic and equipment and provide a conducive environment for provision of health services.
      REQUIREMENTS
      The applicants must have
       Diploma in Community Nursing from Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).
       Must be registered by nursing council of Kenya.
       Proficiency in Computer skills
       At least three years’ experience in a relevant field.
    7. DEPUTY HUMAN RESOURCE OFFICER (1 POST) JOB GROUP KP 10
      REPORTS TO: HUMAN RESOURCE OFFICER

      This position is responsible for provision of assistance in supervision of staff in the various administrative support service areas and promoting staff welfare.
      Main Duties
       Provide assistance in the implementation of the human resource management and administration policies and ensure compliance with government legal and statutory requirement.
       Coordinate office services in the institution to ensure all operations run smoothly.
       Draft letters of appointment, probation and promotion for review, approval and validation by human resource officer.
       Administer staff appraisal and comply annual appraisal report for review by the human resource officer.
       Respond to staff’s queries on basic human resource matters to provide clarity on issues of concern.
       Maintain accurate and up to date employee records
       Gather and compile all information relating to trainings needs from all the departments to facilitate proper planning of training programmes.
       Inducting new employees.
       Administering compensation and benefits.
      REQUIREMENTS
      The applicants must have:
       Degree in Human Resource Management from a recognized institution
       Proficiency in Computer skills
       Member of IHRM.
       Knowledge of the employment Act and Labour Laws.
       Three (3) years of relevant working experience.

    8. BIOLOGY TECHNICIAN (1 POST) JOB GROUP KP 7
      REPORTS TO: HEAD OF DEPARTMENT APPLIED SCIENCE.

      This position is responsible in provision of technical support to the head of applied science and trainees, contributing to students’ learning experience by assisting with the preparation of
      materials and apparatus for practical work, innovating and creating new equipment.
      Main Duties
       Set up and dismantle apparatus and equipment for demonstrations and practical lessons, as requested and detailed by teaching staff.
       Run trials of experiments prior to classes and then demonstrate techniques for experiments to the trainees to ensure the practical session runs smoothly.
       Perform demonstrations and provide technical support to the trainees during the practicals
       Maintain laboratory inventory and ensure that all the required equipment and chemicals are available for use when required.
       Requisition laboratory consumable to ensure they are replenished in a timely manner to ensure laboratory operations runs smoothly.
       Maintain safety storage of laboratory chemicals and equipment to prevent incidences of accidents in the laboratory.
       Prepare maintenance schedule for all laboratory equipment’s for approval by the section head to ensure that all laboratory equipment are in good working condition.
       Ensure safe disposal of laboratory waste as per the occupational safety and health standards.
       Observe and ensure health and safety procedures are practiced and enforced and all accidents are reported to the section head.
       Advice the section head on the budgeting requirement for the laboratory to ensure that all the laboratory requirement are factored in the budget to promote smooth trainings.
       Maintain all requisite records on the use of various laboratory equipment’s and chemicals for accountability and future reference.
       Segregate non-functional equipment and machine to ensure safety in the laboratory and ensure they are disposed by the safety disposal guideline.
       Report any breakdown of equipment to the section head for purposes of decision making on replacements.
       Supervise cleaning of laboratory and equipment therein to ensure efficient operation of the laboratory.
       Keep up to date with relevant scientific and technical development that will save on time and improve reliability.
       Maintain workshop inventories by receiving, issuing tools and materials in the workshop and ensure sufficient materials in the workshop
       Observe and ensure health and safety procedures are practiced and enforced and accidents reported to the section head
       Requisition for consumables to ensure they are replenished in a timely manner and organize in a way that they are easily traced

       Diploma in Applied Biology from a recognized institution

    9. FOOD SCIENCE TECHNICIAN (1 POST) JOB GROUP KP 7
      REPORTS TO: HEAD OF DEPARTMENT APPLIED SCIENCE.

      REPORTS TO: HEAD OF DEPARTMENT AGRICULTURE

      This position is responsible in the provision of technical support to the trainer in charge of the section, contributing to trainees’ learning experience by assisting with the preparation of equipment and machinery for practical work to promote understanding of course work and innovation
      Main Duties
       Provide support to trainers and trainees in solving technical problems and practicals.
       Maintain workshop inventories by receiving, issuing animals, tools and materials in the workshop and ensure sufficient materials in the workshop
       Observe and ensure health and safety procedures are practiced and enforced and accidents reported to the section head
       Requisition for animals, consumables to ensure they are replenished in a timely manner and organized in a way that they are easily traced
       Prepare maintenance schedule for all the workshop equipment for approval by head of department and maintain requisite records on servicing schedule on various equipment and machinery to ensure the schedule is adhered to.
       Advise the head of department on the budgeting requirement of the workshop to ensure that all the requirements of the workshop are budgeted for
       Segregate non-functional equipment and machinery to promote safety in the workshop.

       Must be registered with relevant professional body
       Knowledge of Occupational safety and Health Act.
    11. HAIR DRESSING AND BEAUTY TECHNICIAN (1 POST) JOB GROUP KP 7 REPORTS TO: HEAD OF DEPARTMENT APPLIED SCIENCE.
      This position is responsible in the provision of technical support to the lecturer in charge of the section, contributing to students’ learning experience by assisting with the preparation of equipment and machinery for practical work to promote understanding of course work and innovation
      Main Duties
       Provide support to trainers and trainees in solving technical problems and practicals.
       Maintain workshop inventories by receiving, issuing tools and materials in the workshop and ensure sufficient materials in the workshop

    12. ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH TECHNICIAN (1 POST) JOB GROUP KP 7
      REPORTS TO: DEAN OF STUDENTS.

      This position is responsible in the provision of cleanliness of the institution.
      Main Duties
       Ensure environmental cleanliness
       Handle conservation and water management
       Deal with waste and disposal management.
       Ensure quality food management
       Inspection of all human foods
       Ensure that food handlers adhere to public health regulations
       Advice management on health status of the institution.
       Carry periodical supervision of the environmental cleanliness of the institution.
      Advice measures to curb emerging health concerns.
       Any other duties assigned.

       Diploma in Environmental Health/Public Health from a recognized institution

    13. DEPUTY LIBRARIAN (1 POST) JOB GROUP KP 10
      REPORTS TO: LIBRARIAN.

      This position is responsible to ensure that library books and reading resource materials are easily accessible by all staff in the institution for enhanced competence development.
      Main Duties
       Deputize the Librarian in her absence
       Supervise staff in the Library to ensure flow of work and ensure timely achievements of the deliverables
       Ensure security of information materials and office equipment.
       Responding to Front desk enquiries
       Coordinate with the Librarian to ensure Library computerized security system is in good working condition.
       Stock taking as authorized by the Librarian.
       Ensure catalogue of all new information materials to ensure that they are well placed in the shelves for easy accessibility by the users.
       Ensure classification of books and material on the shelf and reference for easy retrieval by the library users.
       Ensuring observance of Library rules, regulations and procedures.
       Updating of the accessions register and data entry.
       Any other duties assigned.
      REQUIREMENTS
      The applicants must have
       Degree in Information Studies or its equivalent from a recognized institution
       Proficiency in Computer skills
       Must be a member of Kenya Library Association
       Computer Literate.
       Three (3) years of relevant working experience
    14. ACCOUNTANTS (2 POSTS) JOB GROUP KP 10
      REPORTS TO: FINANCE OFFICER.

      This position is responsible for accounting for monthly transactions, management of cash flows, maintenance of the general ledger, and for the preparation of the statutory accounts.
      Additionally, the position manages the accounting system to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of financial services to the user directorates and departments.
      Main Duties
       Prepare of statutory returns to ensure full compliance with laws and regulations in order to reduce risks from noncompliance.
       Maintain accounts records for accountability purposes.
       Coordinate preparation of timely and proper bank reconciliation statements to show the correct liquidity of the institution.
       Monitor and control the institutions expenditure as per the allocated budget for accountability purpose and to ensure that there is no misuse of funds.
       Monitor the institution cash flow to ensure availability of funds at all times, to support smooth operations in the institution.
       Generate monthly financial statements/reports/accounts for the management to make informed financial decisions.
       Preparation of final accounts and statements to present the fair view of financial status/position of the institution.
       Well versed with IPSAS accrual.
       Any other duties assigned.
      REQUIREMENTS
      The applicants must have
       Degree in Accounting or related field from recognized institution.
       CPA K and ICPAK membership
       Must have done accounting packages and able to demonstrate.
       Four (4) years’ experience in Accounting.
    15. MARKETING OFFICER(1 POST) JOB GROUP KP 9
      REPORTS TO: REGISTRAR.

      This position is responsible for marketing the institution.
      Main Duties
       Assist in developing and implement polytechnic marketing strategies.
       Organize and attend marketing activities or events to raise awareness of Polytechnic activities.
       Plan advertising and promotional campaigns for courses in a variety of media.
       Conduct market research to identify opportunities for promotion and growth.
       Prepare content for the publication of marketing material and oversee distribution.
       Liaise with stakeholders to promote success of educational activities and polytechnic presence.
       Collaborate with managers in preparing budgets and monitoring expenses.
       Evaluate success of polytechnic marketing activities.
       Keep accurate and up to date evaluation records of polytechnic marketing activities.
      REQUIREMENTS
      The applicants must have
       Degree in Marketing or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
       Proficiency in Computer skills
       Three (3) years’ experience in Marketing.

    16. DEPUTY SECURITY OFFICER(1 POST) JOB GROUP KP 7
      REPORTS TO: SECURITY OFFICER.

      This position is responsible for maintenance of security in the institution and implementation of policies and procedures in line with work plans and schedules as determined by the security officer
      Main Duties
       Coordinate security solutions in line with operational work plans and schedules in accordance to the agreed framework to facilitate effective and efficient operations in the security department.
       Confirm authorization of all equipment entering and leaving the institution to protect assets and persons in the institution.
       Resist unauthorized persons from gaining access to the institution to ensure compliance to procedures and safety in the institution.
       Direct visitors to assigned service areas to ensure seamless flow of operations and good visit experience at the institution.
       Carry out regular patrols around the institution to ensure its entire staff and assets are safe.
       Participate periodically in risk assessment and security audits in accordance to work plans, to inform on key priority areas to facilitate compliance and security standards.
       During fire safety drills, coordinate the clearance of office premises and of all persons and maintain control during emergency situations to ensure accountability.
      REQUIREMENTS
      The applicants must have
       Diploma in Security studies or a related field from a recognized institution
       Proficiency in Computer skills
       Two (2) years’ experience.
