      GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES

 

  • Be at your seat in the Examination Room five minutes before the time fixed for the examination in the various papers. All sessions will start at 00 am.

  • Read the questions carefully. Much time may be wasted in writing down information that is not asked for and no marks are given for
  • Do not write so much upon one or two questions as to leave yourself not enough time to answer others which you are able to
  • As soon as notice is given to stop, ARRANGE YOUR ANSWER BOOK AND SHEETS IN THE CORRECT ORDER (this is normally the order in which you answered the questions).       CAUTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES

 

  • You are not allowed to leave the examination room before the end of the period allocated to the paper except by special permission of the supervisor.

NO CANDIDATE SO PERMITTED MAY TAKE A QUESTION PAPER OUT OF THE EXAMINATION ROOM.

  • Do not leave a sheet of paper you have written on or your answers in such a position that another candidate can read You should not give or obtain unfair assistance, or attempt to do so, whether by copying or in any other way, and your work should not show proof of such unfair assistance.
  • No communication whatsoever in whatever manner between candidates or with outsiders is allowed during
  • You are not allowed to have in your possession or in your proximity while in the examination room, any book, notes, papers or any other materials whatsoever except the correct question paper and any materials expressly authorised by the Kenya National Examinations
  • You may only use mathematical tables printed by the Kenya National Examinations Council, and these should not contain any additional notes except the printed information. If you are using a slide ruler as permitted by the Regulations it should not contain formulae or other data that may give you undue advantage over other If in doubt, check with the supervisor.
  • You must return immediately to the Supervisor any incorrect question paper given to

      PENALTY FOR EXAMINATION IRREGULARITIES

 

  • The KNEC Act 2012 rules and regulations, offences and penalties stated in sections 27 to 40 for cases of examination irregularities will apply. Some of the highlights in these sections state that:
    • A candidate who commits an examination irregularity in any paper will have the results for the WHOLE SUBJECT Such a candidate will not be entitled to a result and will be awarded result “Y” overall.
    • If there is evidence of wide-spread irregularities in any centre, the whole examination results for the whole centre will be

Any person who:-

  1. gains access to examination material and knowingly reveals the contents, whether orally or in writing, to an unauthorized party, whether a candidate or not will violate section 27 and the penalty will be imprisonment for a term not exceeding ten years, or a fine not exceeding two million shillings or both;
  2. wilfully and maliciously damages examination material will violate section 30 and the penalty will be imprisonment for a term not exceeding

two years or a fine not exceeding five million shillings or both;

  1. is not registered to take a particular Council’s examination but, with intent to impersonate, presents or attempts to present himself to take the part of an enrolled candidate, shall be guilty of an offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year or a fine not exceeding two million shillings or both and shall be prohibited from taking an examination conducted by or on behalf of the Council for a period of three years.
    • Candidates are therefore strongly advised not to engage in any examination malpractice that may lead to any of the above actions taken against

SRC to slash public servants’ allowances, consolidate others

SRC says it will review about 150 types of allowances paid to public servants.

The Salaries and Remuneration Commission, SRC, has laid concrete plans to cut down on the run away wage bill.

SRC chairperson Lyn Mengich has said that the public service had over 150 different types of allowances, both remunerative and facilitative; that consume a large chunk of the Country’s resources.

While addressing a media briefing on Thursday 21st March, 2019, at Intercontinental Hotel, Mengich said the Commission will amalgamate some allowances and even scrap ‘unnecessary’ ones.

“I think it’s time that we came out as Kenyans, as leaders, to look at our country so that when we are making demands it should be on the basis of affordability,” she stated.

Allowances consume a big chunk of the public wage bill. It is important that we address it, said SRC Commissioner Komora at the briefing.

The government of Kenya has 700,000 public officers. They’re paid Ksh 733 billion every year which is 53% of the cash raised from taxes.

Every public servant gets an automatic salary increment every year (annually). The increment is 4%.

Some of the allowances that have been reviewed in the past include: housing allowance (paid in terms of towns banding) and leave allowance that is paid annually.

Other allowances that SRC has reviewed are: hardship allowance and daily subsistence allowance.

“We are anticipating a situation where we will reduce the 150 by half but of importance is that there is more allowance that will account for over 100 percent of the basic salary. We all know the job is compensated through basic salary,” she stated.

“The new rates that the commission is giving today shall be the only allowances to be applied to both the public and State officers.”

From the year 2017 to 2020 there has been an increase in the number of students joining universities and Tvet institutions.The school’s University entry record has been on upward trajectory as follows :

2020 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education produced 32 students joining university .This is the highest number that the school has ever produced in their history which deserves a celebration considering their admission entry .

Principal Bruce Kerage who took over from the year 2015 seems to have worked out on several areas that has impacted positively on their performance with the school recording a mean of 5.7 which saw them over take several giant schools within the region

School infrastructure has changed considerably since it’s inception .The school now has both boarding and day schooling. “Most students are now boarding  within and this has made it easier for teachers to disseminate information and minimized indiscipline cases”said one teacher from Nyakeore .

Nyakeore secondary school student population has equally increased from 9 to 632. For instance in the year 2017 the school had a student population of 120 students ,2018 were 220,2019 the school had 420 students and 2020 the school had a total population of 632.This is an indicator of greatness in the near future .

With just 11 teachers from  Teachers service commission handling 632 students , there is more to desire if the school is empowered .

Despite the challenges on finance , Structures , resources , poor entry behavior the entire school under the leadership of the principal seem determined to make a statement by making the best on what they have .
