    KNEC tells schools to verify 2020 KCPE, KCSE candidates’ registration data: Details

    The Kenya National Examination Council, knec, has instructed schools to verify the data for the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates.

    According to the circular released by knec Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mercy Karogo and dated 21st February, 2020, ‘all candidates, with the guidance of the subject teachers are required to verify the registration details per subject and confirm correct subject entries by signing against their names.’ The schools have been given up to the 6th of March, 2020, to ensure the captured data is correct.

    NOMINAL ROLLS

    The registration of candidates for the 2020 KCPE and KCSE examinations was closed on 15th February, 2020.

    The Kenya National Examinations Council has introduced a subject nominal roll in the registration portal whereby each school is required to download and print the nominal roll per subject. This is aimed at assisting the candidates verify their subjects entries.

    All candidates, with the guidance of the subject teachers are required to verify the registration details per subject and confirm correct subject entries by signing against their names.

    Heads of institutions are advised to ensure that the verification process is carried out thoroughly and all candidates sign the nominal roll for themselves. The subject teacher and the head of the institution are also required to endorse the subject nominal rolls.

    ERRORS ON CANDIDATES’ DATA

    Errors noted during verification should be corrected on both the subject and master nominal rolls using a red pen. The subject nominal roll must be submitted together with the master nominal roll and other registration documents.

    AREAS TO BE KEENLY CHECKED
    The council has advised schools to focus on the following areas during the verification process:
    • Subject entries/Clusters;
    • Candidate’s name, Year of birth and Gender;
    • Category of Candidates with Special Needs (Visually Impaired, Deaf, Blind and Physically challenged)
    • Citizenship;
    • Repeaters;
    • Photographs;
    • Duplication-of candidates.

    The schedule for downloading, printing, verification and return of the norminal
    rolls to the Sub County Director of Education office is as follows:

    1 Downloading, Printing and Verification of Nominal rolls 24th February to 6th March, 2020 24th February and 6th March, 2020
    2 Return of Nominal rolls to Sub County Director of Education office 16th March to 20th march, 2020

    NB: Only nominal rolls printed between 24th February and 6th March 2020 will be valid.

    EXTRA DOCUMENTS TO DOWNLOAD

    School are required to download the return envelope top from the registration portal and paste it on the envelope containing registration documents. The documents to be submitted to KNEC are as follows:

    • Master Nominal roll and Subject Nominal rolls;
    • Documents for candidates with Special Needs (dully filled form, recent medical/EARC reports, headteacher’s report and coloured full size photographs for those with special needs);
    • Headteacher’s declaration forms;
    • Registration forms for Private candidates, fees payment bank deposit slips and private candidates summary form;
    • Fees payment bank deposit slips for non citizens and repeaters attached to the repeater’s fees summary form;
    • Letters for host centres and centres to be hosted.The Sub County Directors of Education are requested to bring this information to the attention the heads of institutions and the officers in charge of registration of the private candidates.
