This as the team gears up for their upcoming Olympics Qualifier against Malawi, whose first leg is set to be played on August 28, 2019, with the second leg slated for September 1, 2019, at the MISC Kasarani.

Starlets kicked off residential training on Monday, August 12, 2019, in Nairobi, ahead of the match, which will serve as a build-up to the crucial qualifier. Kenya got a bye in the first round, and will have either of Gabon or Ghana in their way in the third round should they pass the Malawi test.

Harambee starlets will not participate at this year’s AWCON finals after all!

Kenya’s women soccer team’s, Harambee starlets, hopes of participating at this year’s African Women Cup of Nations, AWCON, have been thwarted. This is after the Court of Arbitration for Sport, CAS, rejected an application by the Federation of Kenyan Football, FKF, to have an earlier decision by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to reinstate the Equatorial Guinea team, at the expense of Kenya, overruled.

FKF had filed an appeal to CAS after they were excluded due to a successful appeal by Equatorial Guinea.

Now, Kenya will have to wait and work hard to qualify to next edition. The Kenyan team’s players have been in camp training for the AWCON finals this year, 2018.
