County Secondary Schools in Nakuru County; School KNEC Code, Type, Cluster, and Category

County Schools in Kenya form the third tier of secondary schools; after National and Extra County schools, respectively. The schools admit students from majorly within the country. Admissions to these schools is done online by the Ministry of Education. The Schools are either of Mixed or single sex type.

2023 KCPE Release Date Announced, How to get results quickly

The Ministry of Education, through Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang, has announced the release date for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) 2023 examinations. Kipsang mentioned that the release date has been backdated to allow the government to adequately prepare for the placement of candidates in high schools.

Speaking during an inspection tour at Naivasha Girls High School to monitor the ongoing KCSE examinations, PS Kipsang assured KCPE candidates that their results will be out on Thursday 23rd November, 2023. This revised date aims to facilitate the placement of students in secondary schools and assist parents in preparing for school fees.

The KCPE and KPSEA exams took place from October 30 to November 1. Over 1.4 million candidates are now waiting for their results, with more than a million sitting for the KCPE exams and over a million for the KPSEA assessments. This year’s KCPE exam was the last of its kind, marking the end of a 38-year history as Kenya transitions to the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

Simultaneously, the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations are ongoing in the country, with minimal reports of exam malpractice. The KCSE exams started on October 23, 2023, and are expected to conclude on November 24, 2023.

Knec issues warning on fake KCSE exam papers posted on Social Media

Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has cautioned candidates sitting for their KCSE examinations to be cautious of fake exam papers being circulated in various social media platforms.

KNEC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. David Njengere has confirmed that the examination papers being circulated on social media platforms are not genuine and are only meant to deceive those sitting for KCSE.

He said the new guidelines that were put in place are working well, saying this year KNEC is determined to conduct credible results.

“Students have studied for the last four years, so I urge them to ignore those papers being circulated in various social media channels. The papers are fake.

“The new directive of picking exam papers from containers twice a day is working very smoothly and is helping to prevent early exposure of examination papers. Those monitoring the exams are also doing a great job,” said Njengere when he oversaw the distribution of examination papers from a container in Murang’a East Sub County, Monday.

He revealed that so far, 46 cases of malpractice have been reported in the country, saying the number has no significance to taint the integrity of the exam.

“46 students from various parts of the country have been caught as they attempted to interfere with the exams. Some of the cases include having phones in examination centres or any other unauthorized materials. We thank officers and teachers manning the exams as they have quelled any attempt to leak the exams,” added the CEO.

Marking of the exams, Njengere noted, will be thorough to pick out any form of malpractice that could have happened during the exams.

“I assure candidates that the marking will be fair but quite strict to identify any form of malpractice that could have happened. This is being done to ensure credibility of the national examinations and ensure learners attain genuine grades,” he observed.

Meanwhile, the CEO said various measures have been employed to ensure schools in areas affected by ongoing heavy rains get their examination papers on time.

“Helicopters have been deployed to some areas, especially in northeastern and parts of Kitui County, to deliver examination papers. This is due to heavy rains being experienced in those parts of the country.” He remarked, adding that he hoped all those engaged in conducting the examinations would follow and adhere to the provided guidelines.

Sub County Secondary Schools in Kitui County; School KNEC Code, Type, Cluster, and Category

Sub County Schools in Kenya form the lowest cadre of secondary schools; after National, Extra County schools and County Schools, respectively. The schools admit students from majorly within the Sub country; from the immediate locality. The Schools are majorly of Mixed type; though there are a few single sex schools. Students joining these schools are mostly those with the low marks in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education, KCPE, exams. The schools are in most cases Day Schools; though some are Day and Boarding Schools. These schools form the majority of secondary schools in Kenya and are found in all Counties.

TALKING POINTS BY TEACHERS SERVICE COMMISSION CEO NANCY MACHARIA DURING A
MULTI-AGENCY MEETING ON THE 2021 NATIONAL EXAMINATIONS ADMINISTRATION ON
FEBRUARY 18, 2022, AT THE KENYA SCHOOL OF GOVERNMENT AT 7.30AM
I am happy to be part of the multi-agency team meeting this morning to affirm our commitment
to ensure that the 2021 KCPE and KCSE will be administered in a fair and favourable environment
that will give an opportunity for all candidates to excel.
1. Careful Selection of 242,406 Teachers to Support 2021 Exam Process
On behalf of the TSC, I wish to assure the country that all the teachers are fully prepared to
play their part to ensure that everything comes together as planned in the entire period of
the national examinations. This year, the Commission has identified and vetted 242,406
teachers who will be presented to the Kenya National Examination Council to serve as
invigilators, supervisors, centre managers and examiners during this process. Only the best
cream of teachers, those who do not have any known disciplinary issues, have been identified
as part of the Commission’s determination to guarantee integrity in examination
administration.
2. Special categories of teachers spared from the examination process
However, the Commission has excluded all female teachers who will be serving their
maternity leave during the examination period to ensure they attend to their infants
without disruption. You may have realised that the Commission has this week released
details to all teachers spelling out the much-improved maternity, paternity, and adoptive
leaves for teachers in line with the CORT and the 2021-2025 CBA. The aim is to ensure that all
teachers involved in the examinations process give the exercise an undivided attention.
3. Cancellation of Leave for all TSC Field Staff
Starting from Monday 21st February, 2022 the Commission will expect all field officers
currently on leave to return to their workstations to ensure there are no gaps in service. As
a result, we will be cancelling all annual leave and field activities for all our sub-county,
county, and regional officers during the examination period. We expect our officers to join
hands with other multi-agency sector players in conducting final preparations ahead of the
examinations.
4. COVID-19 Vaccination and Booster Uptake
I wish to congratulate all teachers for taking up the COVID-19 vaccination. Record of the
MoH show that the uptake surpassed the 100 per cent mark! Congratulations our teachers
for this achievement. Although this is impressive, the Commission now wishes to urge our
teachers to go further and take up the COVID-19 booster jabs that are being administered in
all parts of the country. In addition, we urge all Centre managers to remain vigilant and
ensure that all examination officials wear masks and adhere to all other MoH measures while
at the examination centres. No examination official should be allowed to enter an
examination centre without a mask.
I wish to remind all our teachers that the TSC medical scheme is still covering all COVID-
related cases. Any teacher who tests positive for the virus should always visit any health
facility to utilise the health insurance cover.

5. CBC TEACHER PREPARATION
| wish to assure the country that the TSC is preparing all our teachers for the gradual
implementation of the CBC. Ahead of the rollout in Grade Six in May 2022, and Junior
Secondary in 2023, the Commission has made necessary arrangements to train teachers to
ensure smooth implementation. So far, 229,292 teachers have been trained on CBC ahead of
Grade Six rollout. Further training will be conducted in April 2022 as part of the deliberate
plan to train all teachers.
IN CONCLUSION, I wish to thank all teachers for their unwavering support to the smooth running
of academic programmes in our schools. I once again urge them to step up the gear this year
when we expect them to participate in five national examinations. I have no doubt at all that the
Kenyan teachers will deliver first class services.
I now wish all the KCPE and KCSE candidates the very best as they engage in their tail-end
preparations for the national examinations due next month.

NYAKIAMBI GIRLS SECONDARY SCHOOL’S BRIEF HISTORY

Nyakiambi girls started in 1968 as a mixed secondary school and became a girls’ only school in 1988.

The school was at that time two streamed until 2002 when a third stream was added.

 In 2009, a fourth stream was formed which is the current position.

 The students’ population has grown over the years to the present 670 students.

The school is located at the cool highlands of rift valley at an altitude of 3000 meters or 9000 feet above the sea level.

The area experiences a double maximum rainfall as it falls at a latitudinal location of 0002’S and a longitudinal location of 37o 05’E.

The physical location of the school is in the administrative district of Mirangine.

In the 2023 KCSE results as reported by Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC), The Destiny Boys High school Turkana North, Sub County emerged top in Turkana County with an entry of 31 candidates.

𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐭 𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬

The Principal Secretary for Basic Education, Dr. Belio Kipsang, has issued a stern warning to school principals who fail to register students for national examinations.

Dr. Kipsang emphasized that any such failure would be considered an examination irregularity, with those responsible facing legal consequences.

“There is no reason, no reason at all, why we should not register any child because the government pays for these exams,” Dr. Kipsang stated.

The PS reminded the principals that the government covers all examination fees, eliminating any financial excuse for non-registration.

He also shared that a school in Eldoret had already faced legal action for failing to register candidates, warning that any similar cases would lead to similar legal measures.

Dr. Kipsang stressed that school principals have a duty to ensure all eligible students are registered for exams. He pointed out that financial constraints are no longer a valid reason for non-compliance, especially with the government fully funding the exam fees.

He reiterated that non-registration of candidates is in clear violation of the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) Act, and those found guilty will face severe legal repercussions.

Tharaka Nithi County forms a part of the 22 Counties’ list which failed to produce a candidate in the top 100 best candidates, nationally. The best candidate in the County scored 426 marks out of 500.
