Mount Kenya University, MKU; Courses, Admissions, Requirements, Student Portal, Website, Fees and Applications

Universities are the highest learning institutions in Kenya and the World over. They offer training majorly in undegraduate and Post Graduate Studies. In Kenya, the Courses offered in the Universities must be accredited by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Services, KUCCPS. It is the same body that selects and places students to higher learning institutions; Universities, Colleges and Polytechnics.

  To qualify for University placement one must attain the minimum set Mean grade and particular course requirements. Each Course offered at particular university has its own cluster cut off points, though.

  Most university courses take a minimum of 4 years; while, some take even more. An academic year at the university takes two semesters of three months each. University students get fees loans from various organizations. Top on the list is the Higher Education Loans Board, HELB, that advances both loans and Bursaries.

  Universities run online platforms; portals and websites, where such services as admission application, online accommodation booking, E-learning, exams results downloads and many are provided to students, staff and the general public. On admissions, most universities have admissions in May and September for new students. Various learning modules are provided at the universities. These learning modules include: Full time, School Based, Distance Learning, Evening & Weekend classes and E-Learning.

  3. Diploma in Education.
  4. P1teachers must have scored a mean grade of C+ at KCSE with at least C+ in two teaching subjects chosen.

Bachelor of Education(Science) Admission Requirements

  1. Mean grade of C+(Plus) at KCSE with at least C (Plain) in Mathematics and C+ in each of the two teaching subjects or 2 Principal passes and 1 Subsidiary pass at A’ Level in Mathematics,
  2. Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Diploma in Education.

In evaluating your application, the University will consider the following factors:

  • Mean Grade scores achieved in High School
  • Grades earned in core subjects depending on the specific programmes in which you are interested
  • Additional information provided in support of your application.

Before you apply for admission at MKU, you are encouraged to carefully consider the various degree and diploma programmes available, meet with an adviser and when you decide MKU is the place you want to be. Admission to MKU is on a first come first serve basis so be sure to complete your application early. Whether you are interested in postgraduate, undergraduate or graduate studies, diploma or certificate programmes, you will find that MKU has a variety of programmes to chose from in fulfilling your educational and career goals. Duly filled application forms should be addressed to the Registrar- academic Administration. Application should be accompanied by copies of ID/Passport, relevant academic and professional certificates. Application fee is as follows:

The programme has been developed with the understanding that as the challenge to have well managed institutions in the society increases, relevant management and leadership are required to adjudicate the emerging demands both in public and private sector. The Bachelor of Management and leadership programme( BML) is offered with the following options: Business administration | Human resource | Procurement | Marketing Career Opportunities Students who complete the BML programme have a number of career and academic progression options. The BML programme will equip students with the necessary skills to launch their careers in Strategic Management, Organisational Leadership and entrepreneurship. Bachelors of Development Studies

Overview This programme has been developed with the understanding that there is a widening demand for professionals who can be able to initiate and mobilize communities to participate in the facilitation of their own development. BDS resonates with the needs of the devolved government as stipulated in the new constitution with the need to have the people in the rural areas to be fully involved in the community development activities. MUA graduates will be well equipped with gender development skills to enable them design and facilitate development events that lead to Gender Equity in all human development endeavors. BDS has the following options : i) Economic development ii) Entrepreneurship iii) Project management iv) Environmental Management Career Opportunities The BDS programme prepares students for careers and opportunities in the following fields; Development finance, Monitoring and Evaluation, Public Administration. Duration of the Programme The academic undergraduate programmes take 4 academic years. Each year will have 3 trimesters. Each Trimester will have 14 weeks of study ( 12 weeks for tuition and 2 weeks exams) Each unit will have 3 hours per week totaling to 36 lecture hours per unit per trimester and 3 hours for examination leading to 39 hours in total per trimester Course requirements
  • Attend at least 80% of the lectures
  • Any deferment of the course must be approved by the senate.

Meru University Courses, Online Services, Student Portal, Fees, Admissions, Requirements and Applications

Universities are the highest learning institutions in Kenya and the World over. They offer training majorly in undegraduate and Post Graduate Studies. In Kenya, the Courses offered in the Universities must be accredited by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Services, KUCCPS. It is the same body that selects and places students to higher learning institutions; Universities, Colleges and Polytechnics.

  To qualify for University placement one must attain the minimum set Mean grade and particular course requirements. Each Course offered at particular university has its own cluster cut off points, though. Most university courses take a minimum of 4 years; while, some take even more. An academic year at the university takes two semesters of three months each. University students get fees loans from various organizations.

  Top on the list is the Higher Education Loans Board, HELB, that advances both loans and Bursaries. Universities run online platforms; portals and websites, where such services as admission application, online accommodation booking, E-learning, exams results downloads and many are provided to students, staff and the general public.

  On admissions, most universities have admissions in May and September for new students. Various learning modules are provided at the universities. These learning modules include: Full time, School Based, Distance Learning, Evening & Weekend classes and E-Learning.

Admission Requirements for International Students

KAG EAST University welcomes foreign students to attend the university. The following admission requirements will be adhered to:
  1. An official translation of academic records (where applicable) done by a recognized body prefferably their respective embassies.
  2. An official test score of English (TOEFL) or Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English will be required for applicants whose language of instruction is not English.
  3. An overall requirement of C+ at KCSE, if the applicant schooled in Kenya, or an equivalent of this, as will be determined by the Senate directed by CUE program qualification guidelines
  4. An international English proficiency certificate such as TOEFL, GMAT or SAT will be a substitute to this English proficiency Test.
Candidates for admission will give a two-page double spaced essay addressing the topic: What experiences led you to select your professional objectives. Transfer Students/Credit Transfer Information on transfer Students/ Credit transfer can be obtained on request from the admissions office. Procedure of Application for Admission for Undergraduate Each applicant for admission to KAG EAST University will submit to the Academic’s registrars Office the following items:
  1. A non-refundable application fee as specified in the current fee schedule of the institution. All payments will be as per the financial policy.
  2. A duly filled application form at least a month before the start of each semester.
Procedure of Application for Admission for Post Graduate program KAG EAST University will admit applicants who meet any of the following minimum university requirements:
  1. A GPA of 3.0 in a relevant area of study.
  2. Certified copies of all degree certificates and transcripts. Original certificates shall be presented to the Academic Registrar for verification.
