How to identify genuine electric appliances; fridges, iron boxes, TVs, air conditioners

Did you know that Appliances purchased and used in Kenya must adhere to the (Appliance energy performance and labeling) Regulations 2016.

The Energy Regulatory Commission, ERC,has put in place measures to ensure that electricity use at the domestic and commercial levels is sustainable. These measures target six power-consuming appliances which must have ERC efficiency labels.

Photo- Assorted electric appliances.

The labels act as a guide on the energy efficiency of an appliance. The ERC energy efficiency labels have a minimum of 1 star and a maximum of 5 stars. An appliance with a 5-star label has the highest energy efficiency.

Photo- A 5 star rated electric appliance means the appliance is efficient in terms of energy consumption.

The six appliances on which you must look out for the star rating are; refrigerators, motors, ballasts, self-ballasted lamps, double capped lamps and air conditioners.

The aim of the regulation is to ensure that appliances manufactured or imported meet specified minimum energy efficiency standards and ensure that consumers are informed about the annual energy consumption and star rating of the appliances, before making a purchasing decision. Next time you are out shopping, kindly look out for the efficiency labels.

The Commission has installed a hotline number (0708 444 000), operational during normal working hours, with a view of increasing its engagement with stakeholders to enhance enforcement and compliance activities.

A brief explanation on how useful are Betting Predictions on Sports Betting

This article explains the processes, strategies, the importance of betting prediction and how it can affect sports betting outcome.

Benefits of betting predictions on Sports Betting

Betting prediction is usually treated as a task that involves getting facts and figures involving a team or more, participating in a forthcoming event. The main purpose of collating this data is to be able to correctly predict the outcome of the match. Of all popular sports gaming events, football carries the highest number of gaming odds.

When calculating probabilities in sports games, especially in football, some numbers of historical features about the isolated team(s) are retrieved. The performance history of the team(s), results of the matches played by the team(s) in the past, the performance of the players of the team(s), the number of past goals, among other records are collected to calculate winning possibilities in the forthcoming game(s).

Following the points mentioned above, a perspective better should have understood that sport betting is not just a game of chance; it requires the application of some basic strategies if the punters desire to win. We made some research overtime and we realised there are basically two categories of sports bettors; the first category are the ones that bet with their heart while the second category bet with their logic.

Those who bet with their heart are the recreational bettors. This category of bettors tends to bet with relatively low stakes. They also tend to bet on their favourite team even when they are aware the winning chance is slim. These types of people are more likely to bet for fun and loyalty to their team.

However, those who bet with their mind are regarded as the “smarts”. They run several calculations, check several predictions on the Internet and compare gaming records, before placing bets. This category of people tends to place more stakes compared to the former. However, they may not likely be professional betting analysts, but most of them consider betting as another source of livelihood.

There exist several websites publicising betting tips all over the Internet. Typing “sports prediction” on the internet will afford you loads of search results providing bet predictions. However, not all of these websites are reliable. This is exactly why you should understand the basic betting formulae, strategies and techniques.
Understanding the aforesaid betting tactics afford you the ability to distinguish between a correct and fake betting prediction, and at the same time, save you from placing stakes on futile games. Read reviews about top Kenyan betting sites: https://footballbettingguide.co.ke/sportpesa/.

Conclusion

Conclusively, betting prediction regardless of the strategies does not guarantee you a 100% chance of winning your stake. However, it is just a tactical process of getting the right prediction. Persistent practice of betting predictions one way or the other makes you a guru in the act and it may likely fetch you a fortune in return.

Going towards the 8th Global MIL Week, UNESCO and our partners are calling all stakeholders to join the celebration of Media and Information Literacy by organizing events or initiatives in their communities, cities, regions, or online.

You can register your event here.

Media and Information Literate Citizens: Informed, Engaged, Empowered

This year’s edition will continue to focus on the cities and citizens in the digital age. MIL provides citizens with key competencies for life-long learning, work, and in all aspects of life.

Citizens equipped with MIL competencies are informed, engaged, and empowered. They can understand the dangers of disinformation, as well as the spiral of hatred and exclusion. When intercultural and interreligious dialogue are promoted through free, independent and pluralistic media and information systems, the awareness of diversities can enrich our notion of the world around us, and improve our understanding of others and ourselves.

Empowering all citizens, including youth, the elderly, and marginalized groups with MIL competencies allow more voices to be heard, and thus enables digital inclusion and enhanced opportunities.

Join us! UNESCO and its partners are calling partners all over the world to celebrate Global MIL Week.

This call is open worldwide, building up to the Global MIL Week celebrations that will take place from 24 to 31 October 2019.

Together with its Feature Events (International MIL and Intercultural Dialogue Conference and Youth Agenda Forum in Gothenburg, Sweden, 24-26 September 2019), Global MIL Week calls for local events around the world to promote MIL connections across disciplines and professions.

Celebration events can take place during the months leading up to Global MIL Week, or be announced as events that will occur in your country or region around the period of Global MIL Week in October.

How to celebrate Global MIL Week?

Here are two ways to celebrate Global MIL Week:

  • Organize a MIL Day in your city, community, school, university, library, etc.
  • Promote MIL and the hashtag #GlobalMILWeek on social media

There are more ways to mark Global MIL Week – take a look at the 10 Ways to Celebrate Global MIL Week .

Global MIL Week is celebrated annually from 24 to 31 October. It is led by UNESCO, in cooperation with the Global Alliance for Partnerships on Media and Information Literacy (GAPMIL), UNAOC and the Media and Information and Intercultural Dialogue (MILID) University Network, and other partners.

The UNESCO-led Global Alliance for Media and Information Literacy (GAPMIL) is a groundbreaking effort to promote international cooperation to ensure that all citizens have access to MIL competencies. Currently, GAPMIL has over 600 member organizations from over 80 countries.
