Interior Cabinet Secretary, Dr Fred Matiang’i, has announced that all immigration officers working at the various border points will undergo mandatory training. This is in a bid enhance customer experience at all our borders as these officers are the first receivers of guests and official representatives of our country. Dr Matiang’i made the announcement when he launched the Kenya Institute of Migration Studies at the University of Nairobi as part of the Government’s effort to streamline immigration services.
The Cabinet secretary said no immigration officer will be promoted, in future, without completing the Public Relations course. The tough acting CS also announced that Work permits, for foreigners, will no longer be issued issued in the country. All those requiring a permit must get it before they enter the country.
