Question: Hello i lost my-diploma results slip, can you help me retrieve the result-slip please?

KNEC’s Answer: you may not be able to get another result slips, they are not replaced, you can use your certificate

Question to KNEC:I understand that the 2018 Technical Examinations for October – November Timetable is already out, I have gone through your website but it is not yet availed?

KNEC’s Answer:Good afternoon, it shall be uploaded today (24/10/2018)

Question to KNEC:How does Kenya National Examinations Council reimburse to center managers for costs incurred during the examination period for accommodation and transport?

KNEC’s Answer: There is no reimbursement.

Question to KNEC: Are 2018 candidates going to use the 6th Edition mathematical tables?

KNEC’s Answer: Yes, the sixth edition is used and even the earlier ones as long as they have no writings in (them).

Question to KNEC:s it in order for one to be assigned a school that’s too far from their work station for invigilation? I’ve been sent to a far off school.

KNEC’s Answer: This can be handled by the Director, TSC, who is in charge of invigilators.

Question to KNEC: Can a teacher who is still on probation be appointed to be a supervisor during Kcpe/kcse examination?

KNEC’s Answer: Please get guidance from recruiting officer who is the TSC Sub county Director of Education, SCDE.

Question to KNEC: What happens to those who did apply for training as examiners but did get the invitation. These numbers are not working – 0720741001 & 0203317412

TSC to collect data of teachers not performing teaching duties due to drug abuse, medical reasons

The Teachers Service Commission, TSC, is in the process of profiling teachers whose medical conditions are prohibiting them from performing teaching duties, optimally. Through a circular written by Mrs. J.M Maundu, on behalf of the TSC Secretary, and dated 23 October, 2018, the TSC directs all County directors to provide data of this group of teachers. “The commission requires data on teachers who are unable to perform teaching duties due to medical reasons,” Writes Maundu.

The Commission now asks the TSC County Directors to ‘liaise with all heads of institutions to provide data on:’

  • Teachers who have been out of station (their working stations) on account of ill health for over six months.
  • Teachers unable to perform their teaching duties due to substance abuse (Drug and Alcohol abuse)
  • Teachers who have mental challenges and cannot teach.
  • Any other pending cases in the counties where the teacher has not been in station for over 3 months and is not officially on approved leave of absence or study leave.

The TSC collects this information via its, Teachers Management Information System, TMIS, found on its online portal.

Details to be submitted to the head office are: Name of the teacher, TSC Number, Current station and reason (s) for non performance of duty. The information is to be submitted by 15th November, 2018. TSC is doing this is in a bid to address staffing gaps in public schools in Kenya.

TSC to collect data of teachers not receiving Special Allowances

The Teachers Service Commission, TSC, has embarked on an exercise to collect data of teachers not currently receiving Special Allowances. Through an Internal Memo to all County Directors, TSC’s Acting Director in Charge of Staffing, Madam Rita W. Wahome, says: “You are hereby requested to submit data of all teachers teaching in special schools and units who are currently not receiving Special Allowances.”

Special Allowances are paid, monthly, to teachers handling physically challenged learners in special schools and units.

According to Madam Wahome, this data will ‘the commission (to) have a data base of all teachers with special allowance.’ The data to be collected and submitted by the County Directors include the respective teacher’s: County, Sub-county, school, Teacher’s name, TSC NO, Job Group, Date of Deployment to the Unit/ Special School, Officer who made the deployment and area of specialization.

The data is to be filled in a prescribed form and sent to the TSC head quarters by 7th November, 2018.

Special allowance is one of the allowances paid to the teachers, others being: Annual Leave Allowance, Commuter Allowance, House Allowance, Hardship Allowance and Responsibility Allowance.

Over 3,690 Teachers to miss AON Medical Services after eixting TSC service

The Teachers Service Commission, TSC, has directed the AON Medical Insurance provider to remove 3,690 teacher from its medical insurance scheme. This comes after the tutors transferred their services from the TSC to the Public Service Commission, under the Ministry of Education.

This is contained in a circular dated 18th October, 2018, and written by Mrs. J.M Maundu (For the TSC Chief Executive Officer) to the General Manager of AON Insurance Brokers Limited.

“Following a directive on management Teachers/Lectures serving at technical institutions Teachers Service Commission released 3690 employees to Ministry of Education with effect from 1st October, 2018,” says Mrs. Maundu in the circular.

TSC now says the said tutors are no longer entitled to AON medical cover since they are not TSC employees. “You are therefore directed to remove the affected members from the list of membership henceforth, as per the provided data,” Mrs. Maundu directs AON’s Mr. Edwin Kegode.

Teachers under the TSC contribute to both the AON and NHIF, National Hospital Insurance Schemes. But, the AON medical scheme has been thorny, lately, after the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers, KUPPET, vehemently protested the recent renewal of the AON contract with TSC. This has led to major differences between the two teachers’ unions;  KUPPET and the Kenya National Union of Teachers, KNUT.

KUPPET has threatened to call its members to a strike in January to force the TSC to cancel the contract and is currently collecting signatures from members for a petition geared towards the suspension of the medical scheme. According to KUPPET, AON does not live up to expectations of members and they blame it for providing substandard services. KNUT on its side seems to be warming up to the AON medical Insurance Scheme and it has instead wedged a war with TSC on promotions, Evaluations and Delocalization of teachers.

Kenya’s Rugby 7’s team loses to Zimbabwe at the finals of the Africa Men’s Sevens Championship- 2018

Zimbabwe pulled an upset by defeating title holders and hot favorites Kenya by a 17-5 margin to lift the Main Cup of the Africa Men’s Sevens Championship in a final played at the Kennel Stadium in Monastir, Tunisia, today. Zimbabwe got the first try and converted for a 7-0 lead. Kenya responded with a try but Daniel Taabu’s conversion went horribly wide to take the game to 5-7  at the break. On resumption, Zimbabwe got a try to take a 5-12 lead.  The Zimbabweans did not give the Kenyans any breathing space in the second half and they sealed victory via one last try, to lift the trophy by a 17-5 win.

Earlier, Zimbabwe had to leave it late to over-come the stubborn Ugandans in the semis by a 24-19 scoreline, in extra time. The game had ended at a 19-19 tie in regulation time. In their semi-final fixture, Shujaa thumped Madagascar 36-5. Uganda won Bronze by smacking Madagascar 24-19 in the playoff.
