Neema Lutheran College (formerly Matongo Lutheran Theological College and Matongo Lutheran Teachers Training College) is a christian institution of higher learning offering programs in Theology, Education and Community Development.

The college is located at Matongo, Nyamira County, in South West part of Kenya

The main goal of the college is to train leaders with a servant heart for the church and community. It seeks to educate and train ministers, pastors, Christian educators , catechists, deacons, teachers and researchers for Church, School and Society.

NLC is found at Matongo in Nyamira County, 3 kilometres off Kisumu – Kisii highway onChabera – Ikonge road. It is a 45 minutes journey away from Kisumu on the North West, Kisii on the South,Kericho on the North East.

Kisumu International Airport has now made it easier for international connections as one can fly to Kisumu from any part of the World. With the World class Kenya Airways offering flights to Kisumu International Airport it is easy to see how NLC is close to the globe.

Neema Lutheran Teacher Training College- HISTORY

Neema Lutheran College was established in 1977 as Matongo Lutheran Theological College. In 1994, a teachers training college under the name Matongo Lutheran Teachers Training College was established.

The two colleges were later merged to form Neema Lutheran College. Where as the theological section has offered courses at different levels of theology, the teachers college section offers causes in education at different levels. At present the highest program in Bachelor of Theology offered in collaboration with Daystar University

DIPLOMA IN DIAKONIA;

The Diploma in Diakonia course is a 3 year programme for training deaconesses for service in the church. Deaconesses minister by service of combining spiritual care and social care.

For those who already hold a Certificate in Diakonia, the program is shortened based on credit exemptions application and may be a short as 36 credit hours offered in 2 semesters of 15 weeks each(one academic year)
