Kathiani Boys High School in Machakos County has shown significant progress in its academic performance, with the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results marking a major turnaround. The school’s mean score surged to 6.1, a notable improvement from previous years when the mean score had dropped to as low as 4.0 due to issues with leadership.

The improvement comes under the leadership of the current Chief principal, DR Katutu, who took over after the school had faced a period of underperformance. However, Kathiani Boys High School has a history of excellence. Under the leadership of former Principal Mr. Norman Kiongora, the school reached its peak performance, achieving an impressive mean score of 8.1. Mr. Kiongora’s success was widely celebrated, and his efforts were recognized with a promotion to serve as the Director of Special Education in Kenya.
