DPP drops case against the 16 Ambira boys due to lack of evidence

The director of Public Prosecutions, DPP, has today drops charges against the 16 boys from Ambira High School. The boys were arrested for allegedly abusing the Interior Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Fred Matiang’i, and his Education Ministry counterpart, Dr. Amina Mohammed.

Last week, the prosecution requested for more time to complete investigations and present the evidence to the court. Ukwala resident magistrate, Gladys Adhiambo, had remanded the boys, at Ungunja police post in Siaya, for 7 days for investigations to be completed.

Initially, only eight boys had been arrested but more arrests were made, last week to bring the number to sixteen.
