FKF SELECTS 37 REFEREES FOR PHYSICAL ENDURANCE TEST, AHEAD OF FIFA ASSIGNMENTS

Football Kenya Federation, FKF, will on Friday, September 28, 2018, conduct a one-day Physical Endurance Test (PET) for 37 referees who have been shortlisted to take charge of select FIFA assignments for the 2019 season.

The list released, today, features some familiar faces like Davis Omweno.

The session will be held at the MISC Kasarani warmup track starting 6 pm.

Among new additions to the FIFA roster, include Badir Yassin, Dickens Mimisa, Elizabeth Njoroge, Beatrice Oganga, and Judith Muhonja. Successful referees will be deployed to officiate at various FIFA organized competitions.

OFFICIAL UPDATE ON THE ONGOING LICENSING PROCESS

SportPesa has been engaging stakeholders on the current licensing issue. Our sessions with regulators and government are targeted towards creating a better understanding of the gaming industry with the view of creating a shared perspective on related regulation, including tax administration.

The company’s all 500 staff members have been put on leave until 28th of August pending retrenchment. The Company says the working environment has become hostile making it had for smooth operations. This comes after Interior ministry ordered for the review of all betting and gambling companies in the country.

The Betting Control and Licencing Board, BCLB, is yet to renew the Company’s Operations Licence with its business numbers remaining suspended. The business numbers/ paybills are used by gamblers to deposit or withdraw gambling funds. Also to be affected are the lucrative advertisement deals between Publishers/ media and gambling companies. “I’ve just noticed that the government in Kenya made new rules about advertising gambling and making payment from other countries. They just don’t allow it! So, I’m unable to work with you for those reasons. If the situation changes, I’ll gladly make you an offer to cooperate,” wrote an advertiser to a Publisher.

Unexpected dismissal of Farke

One of the main disappointments of the season 2021/22 of the Premier League is Norwich. It is clear that the team was expected to fight to keep a place in the elite, but it started so poorly that it managed to get its first victory only in the eleventh round. FIFA turns down proposal to increase teams for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar

The 2022, Federation of International Football Association, FIFA, World Cup in Qatar will have 32 teams instead of 48.
This means, the African continent will present 5 teams at the Mundial.

‘In line with the conclusions of the feasibility study approved by the FIFA Council at its last meeting, FIFA and Qatar have jointly explored all possibilities to increase the number of participant teams from 32 to 48 teams by involving neighbouring countries at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Following a thorough and comprehensive consultation process with the involvement of all the relevant stakeholders, it was concluded that under the current circumstances such a proposal could not be made now.

Additionally, FIFA and Qatar have once again explored the feasibility of Qatar hosting a 48- team tournament by in particular lowering certain key FIFA requirements.

A joint analysis, in this respect, concluded that due to the advanced stage of preparations and the need for a detailed assessment of the potential logistical impact on the host country, more time would be required and a decision could not be taken before the deadline of June. It was therefore decided not to further pursue this option.

The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will therefore remain as originally planned with 32 teams and no proposal will be submitted at the next FIFA Congress on 5 June, 2019.’

Soccer- Uganda stuns Kenya 4-0 at the 2019 CECAFA U15 Championship final to lift trophy

The Kenya U15 National team fell 4-0 to Uganda in the final of the CECAFA U15 Championships played on Friday August 30, 2019, at the Asmara Stadium in Eritrea.

A brace by Abasi Kyeyune that came after goals apiece by Devis Ogwal and Travis Mutyaba saw the Junior Stars sum up their campaign with a loss in their final match.

The team had earlier on beaten Rwanda 4-2 in post-match penalties in the semifinals, after a 1-1 draw in normal time, to book a place in the finals.

Prior to that, the Junior Stars had won three matches, against Somalia (3-1), Sudan (4-0) and Eritrea (2-1) and drawn one against Burundi (1-1) to come out top of Group A. The matches were played between August 16, and August 22, 2019.

Kenya’s Lwangu Alvin, pictured, took home the award for best keeper of the tournament.

The team is set to jet back on Saturday evening from Eritrea and will head back to their residence, the FKF Center of Excellence, where they are on a homeschooling program.
