2020 Nyanza Region Secondary Schools term one games: Pools, Draws and Fixtures

Nyanza Region Secondary schools’ 2020 term one games pools, draws and fixtures have been released. The games slated for the 17th to 21st of March at Rapogi High School will feature Basketball, Handball, Athletics, Swimming and Rugby 7’s and 15’s. Swimming will though take place at Agakhan Primary school in Kisumu on 14th March, 2020.

These dates were revised by the Nyanza Region Secondary Schools Sports Association (NRSSSA), the body running secondary schools’ games in Nyanza. “Due to the National Secretaries meeting and presentation of documents at Nationals, the term one Regional Championship has been rescheduled,” said Mr. Nyantika Geoffrey who is the acting Regional Secretary and Secretary Kisii County Sports Committee.

In the just released pools, the hosting County (Migori) will field two teams in each discipline, while defending counties have also been accorded two slots in respective disciplines. There are lesser teams in hockey because Nyamira County does not present teams in the discipline. Pooling for Rugby 7’s is done during the championship.

2019 Term 2 school games- St. Peters Mumias in emphatic win as Kakamega’s ‘Green Commandos’ are eliminated

St Peters Mumias are the new Kakamega County champs after seeing off Emanani at the boys under 19 soccer final. A solitary goal by Vinedine Ambetsa in the 11th minute was all that St Peter’s Mumias needed to lift their maiden trophy first ever County football trophy. The final that was played at Musingu High on Saturday 8th June, 2019, attracted a large crowd of fans.

Earlier on the Saints had surprisingly hammered reigning National champs Kakamega High 3-0 at their opening group A match. They then went on to defeat Lugusi High 2-1 before finally humbling Lubinu Boys 2-0 in their last group A match.

In the quarters, the St. Peters had to leave it late to overcome stiff opposition. The two teams had drawn 1-1 on regulation and added time. Butere High went on to win 5-3 on post match penalties.

Dagoretti High School duo signed by KPL side, Kariobangi Sharks Football Club

Kenya Premier League Side, KPL, Kariobangi Sharks has announced the signing of two high school teenagers to bolster their squad, ahead of the new season. The two teenagers are currently schooling at Dagoretti High School, in Nairobi.

“We have signed Dagoretti High School duo of Finlay Osoro and Peter James Outu on long term deals. The teenagers are set to join us in December immediately after completing their final secondary school examinations,” wrote Kariobangi Sharks, in a presser, today (4 November, 2018).

Dagoretti High Soccer team is coached by the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Chairman, Mr. Peter Orero; who is also the principal. Dagoretti finished third during this year’s KSSSA Term 2 games, held in Eldoret.

Kariobangi is poised to represent Kenya in the 2018/19 Caf Confederations Cup. This is after they defeated Sofa Paka in the Sport Pesa Shield final at Kasarani Stadium, on 20 October, 2018.
