The Teachers Service Commission, TSC, has cancelled the much awaited meeting with the Kenya National Union of Teachers, KNUT. The meeting was to be held tomorrow, Friday 19 October 2018. The TSC did not however state the reasons for postponing the meeting; only saying the cancellation is due to unavoidable circumstances. The talks were to highlight contentious issues raised by KNUT on the teachers’ welfare. Promoting teachers on attainment of higher qualifications, stopping the delocalization and Appraisal exercises are among the matters that KNUT wants to be adressed by the employer:

  1. […] The Kenya National Union of Teachers, KNUT, has issued a threat to take unspecified action if the Teachers service Commission, TSC, does not call them to a meeting in a span of seven days. This comes after the TSC wrote to KNUT, on 17th October 2018, postponing talks that were to be held today (Friday 19 October, 2018); between TSC AND KNUT. 2. […] Dr. Macharia, also, has kind words for the Principals and head teachers who shall be centre managers during the KCPE and KCSE examinations. The commission thanks ‘the 30,184 principals and head teachers who will be centre managers to ensure smooth administration of KCPE and KCSE (Examinations).’ The TSC Secretary has in the same breadth thanked the 35,114 supervisors and 91,405 invigilators who will oversee administration and monitoring of the National examinations. This happens even as the TSC and KNUT lock horns over unresolved industrial matters affecting teachers like: stoppage to the Performance Appraisals, Suspending delocalization of teachers and promoting teachers on attainment of higher qualifications by the Commission. read more details here: TSC Cancels the much anticipated meeting with KNUT […]
