It was registered by the government in the year 1967 with the Manager being Hon. Tom Okello Odongo and the first teacher, Noah Miguda, then a student at Makerere University.

In 1981, the Ministry of Education took over the management of the school as a government maintained a school with the first Headteacher Mr. Boaz Mola Alondo (1981—1988) KenGen Company re-built the school at its current site between 1999 and 2000 to pave way for the power generation site.
