The Kenya Police Service issues presser on the ongoing East African Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization, EAPCCO, games in Kenya

Kenya, through the National Police Service is honoured to host this year’s EAPCCO games in Narobi, Kasarani stadium. EAPCCO in full stands for: East African Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization. It was founded in 1998 in Kampala, Uganda
during the maiden meeting of police chiefs from the region. EAPCCO is a police cooperation mechanism which brings together 14 countries: Kenya, Uganda,Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Sudan, Seychelles, Comoros, South Sudan, and Democratic Republic of Congo.

It operates under the umbrella of INTERPOL and the INTERPOL Region Bureau for Eastern Africa is the
secretariat for EAPCCO.

Apart from sports, EAPCCO brings member countries together in: joint trainings, joint simultaneous operations, joint investigation teams, and information sharing.

Member countries also host centers of excellence in various policing fields such as forensics, community policing, public order, cyber analytics, where countries learn from each other. Kenya hosts the regional Centre of Excellence in Counter Terrorism.

Seven member countries (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Sudan, and South Sudan) are participating in this year’s competition whose theme is: Sports for strengthening regional cooperation and integration in the fight against transnational organized crime.

This is the third edition of the completion which was first held in Uganda and then Tanzania. The NPS is proud to bring the competition home this time and welcomes Kenyans to come and witness our officers retaining and adding more trophies into our already full gallery. We are the reigning champions.
