Teachers in Kenya have embraced Social Media platforms. The teachers use Social media platforms for networking and sharing of resources. One of the Social media platform commonly used by the tutors is WhatsApp. This is an android application that can be downloaded and installed on hand held devices like mobile phones and tablets. Teachers use WhatsApp to share: Latest news, teaching-learning resources (Notes, exams and other revision materials) and job openings among other items.
To join a teacher’s WhatsApp group, one has to approach the group’s administrator who either adds the new member or generates a joining link that can be shared. In most of such WhatsApp groups a high level of professionalism and discipline is maintained.
