Paul Bitok named Kenya’s women volleyball team, Malkia Strikers, head coach

The Kenya Volleyball Federation, KVF, has named Paul Bitok as the head of the Women volleyball team Malkia Strikers for the 2019 All African Games. He will be assisted by Japheth Munala. In June this year Bitok stepped down as the Rwanda National Volleyball team head coach after a 10 year stint.

“I take this opportunity to thank KVF for this appointment, i am pleased to serve my home country in this capacity and with the experience I have attained, I look forward for better results,” said Bitok after the appointment.

Bitok replaces Italian coach Shaileen Ramdoo who was seconded to Kenya by world volleyball governing body, FIVB, in May.

The former Kenyan international will act as the stand-in coach on a short term contract. Bitok’s first assignment will be the African Games slated for Morocco from August 16 to 31.

The changes were announced by the KVF chairman Waithaka Kioni.

“KVF has made the following changes on the Technical Bench of Malkia Strikers for the forthcoming AAG (All Africa Games).
Head Coach: Mr Paul Bitok
1st Asst Coach: Mr Japheth Munala
2nd Asst Coach: Joseph Barasa.
Coach Ramdoo’s contract has expired,” KVF reported.

Bitok was in coach of the Kenya Commercial Bank’s men and women’s teams and Malkia Strikers head coach before moving to Rwanda back in 2009.
