Kenya’s women soccer team’s, Harambee starlets, hopes of participating at this year’s African Women Cup of Nations, AWCON, have been thwarted. This is after the Court of Arbitration for Sport, CAS, rejected an application by the Federation of Kenyan Football, FKF, to have an earlier decision by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to reinstate the Equatorial Guinea team, at the expense of Kenya, overruled.
FKF had filed an appeal to CAS after they were excluded due to a successful appeal by Equatorial Guinea.
Now, Kenya will have to wait and work hard to qualify to next edition. The Kenyan team’s players have been in camp training for the AWCON finals this year, 2018.
