a. KNEC PROJECTS
1. The projects started in July and the uploading of scores will be latest 31st October.
2. Each school is to come up with individual school deadlines so as to have enough time to upload scores in the portal. For example, 15th October be the final day for all subject teachers to submit scores and evidences of projects to the principal.
3. The person in charge of uploading scores in the KNEC Portal is the school principal.
4. The principal can delegate these duties to a few teachers or subject teachers.
5. For the principal to delegate, he/she must login in the KNEC Portal and open a subject teacher account.
6. The subject teacher will only be able to upload marks of the learners in his/her subject. He/she will only view/access those scores.
7. The principal on his/her dashboard can see the subjects whose scores have been uploaded or not.
8. The subject teachers while submitting the score sheets, both the Analytic and holistic scores must be presented and signed by him/her.
9. The filling of scores is not about the overall mark for example core math – 80%, English- 60% as we have been doing traditionally. The scores of every leaner and task are uploaded.
For example if Task one had a Max of 10 marks- you record how many the learner has scored out of 10, then move to task 2 etc… The system will work out the total.
This process is done for every learner and for every question.
10. The evidence of the assessments to be kept includes: marked research notes, minutes of meetings done during preparation, implementation and conclusion of the projects, the photos, videos, the portfolio, learner journals and models/structures made during the project.
11. The evidences are to be stored upto aperiod of 6 months then after which they can be destroyed.
12. Projects of core learning areas are Done by all learners (CSL, ENG, KISW,) Core math is done by only those learners taking it.
13. P. E and ICT sample projects were given as a guide for the teachers in assessing the learners. Let them do to help the teacher get feedback. However, the scores will not be uploaded in the portal.
b. WRITTEN SBAS
1. The assessment tools will be uploaded by KNEC on 5th October.
2. Individual schools will come up with a timetable on how to carry out the assessments.
3. The deadline for uploading scores will be on 23rd October, 2026.
4. This means you can prepare a timetable so that they end before 15th to give the affected teachers ample time to mark and submit scores to the principal or delegate.
5. The filling of marks in the system is as described above. So let teachers give analytic results as per question/tasks not the overall score.
6. Where a learner is absent you fill AB.
7. Only the following subjects will have written assessment tasks from KNEC:

8. Those subjects missing on the list above, the assessment tools can be prepared and adminstered by subject teachers for the purposes of end year feedback to the parent and school… Formative assessment.
