(a) General Minimum Entry Requirements

  1. Degree: Mean grade of C+ (plus) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) OR other qualifications recognized by the Academic Board.
  2. Diploma: Mean grade of C (plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) OR other qualifications recognized by the Academic Board.
  3. Pre-university College and Certificates: Mean grade of C-(minus) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) OR other qualifications recognized by the Academic Board.

(b) Other entry qualifications:

  3. A Pre-university College Certificate from a recognized institution.
  4. Division II and above in O-level.

  1. A certificate from a credible institution (6 months and above) and in a field relevant to a programme sought at TUM.

  3. Div. III in O-Level.

  • The advertisements for the intakes are usually carried in the local press two months before the intake.
Application Procedure
  • Application forms may be obtained from the University Main Campus at Kitere hill admissions office or through our website APPLICATION-FORM.
  • Non-refundable application fee of Kshs 500 for diploma/certificate, Kshs 1000 for undergraduate Kshs 2000 for post graduate programmes.
  • The application fee may be paid by Direct Deposit at any KCB or National Bank Branch into the Rongo University College Account. CASH and postal orders WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
  • The completed application forms, copies of relevant academic certificates, copies of the application fees receipt should be returned or sent to Director, Privately Sponsored Students Programme (PSSP).

A list of all universities in Kenya; short codes and types

Universities are the highest learning institutions in Kenya and the World over. They offer training majorly in undegraduate and Post Graduate Studies. In Kenya, the Courses offered in the Universities must be accredited by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Services, KUCCPS. It is the same body that selects and places students to higher learning institutions; Universities, Colleges and Polytechnics. To qualify for University placement one must attain the minimum set Mean grade and particular course requirements. Each Course offered at particular university has its own cluster cut off points, though. Most university courses take a minimum of 4 years; while, some take even more. An academic year at the university takes two semesters of three months each.

Each University has a short code; that is particular for that institution. There are two categories of Universities in Kenya; Private and Public Universities. The difference between the two is that public universities are managed by a team appointed by the responsible Government agencies.

Universities are the highest learning institutions in Kenya and the World over. They offer training majorly in undegraduate and Post Graduate Studies. On admissions, most universities have admissions in May and September for new students. Various learning modules are provided at the universities. These learning modules include: Full time, School Based, Distance Learning, Evening & Weekend classes and E-Learning.

Undergraduate Entry Requirements Minimum of Mean grade C+ (plus) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E) or equivalent qualifications

Postgraduate

Masters Degree A holder of a Bachelors degree with a minimum of Second Class Honours Upper Division or its equivalent in the relevant discipline, from a recognised institution. Doctoral Degree A holder of a Masters degree from a recognized institution in an area or subject relevant to the proposed area of study
