FEASSSA Games 2022 Latest Results

Kenya’s girls basketball secondary school games (KSSSA) champions Kaya Tiwi started off their East Africa games title pursuit on a low note. The Kenyan Queens got the going tough past Uganda’s Buddo Secondary School in a match played at the International School Moshi of Arusha, Tanzania.

The Ugandans led from the first to the last whistle in a match that openly showed their dominance in basketball. At the end of the first quarter Buddo led 15-09 with Kaya Tiwi closing the gap to 17-22 at the break.

The third quarter wasn’t any better for the Kenyans as Buddo maintained their lead; ending the quarter at 34-28.

The Ugandans opened the gap further in the last quarter and recorded a 52-38 victory.

In the Boys’ category, Kenya’s representatives Dagoreti High were not lucky either; as they lost 54-72 to Uganda’s Bethel Convent.

The 2022 Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) are being staged at Arusha, in Tanzania.

School games; Kenya ready to host the second edition of the Copa Coca-cola Africa Cup of Nations for schools at Mpesa Academy, Thika; Details

Kenya is set to host the second edition of the COPA Coca-Cola Africa Cup for secondary schools; this year in Thika at Mpesa Academy. The tournament is slated for the 2nd to 5th of December 2019.
The hosts and the inaugural champions, Kenya, will be seeking to retain the title they won last year at the games that were held in Nakuru, Kenya.
This year, the COPA Coca-Cola tournament was more than football in all participating schools across Africa. It sought to impact behavior change by introducing plastic collection as part of educating them on the importance of a cleaner environment by taking care of plastics disposal.

Visit the schools’ news portal for the latest;

In Kenya, at least 92,057.50 kilogrammes were collected in the entire championship period with five schools achieving the highest numbers and winning the pitch refurbishment in their respective institutions. These are Mutuini High from Nairobi, St. Charles Lwanga Secondary School from the Coast, Mwiruti Mixed Secondary from the Rift and Mountain region, Bishop Okul Girls from the Nyanza region and finally Nyang’ori High School from the Western region.
In the Pan-African tournament, twelve (12) teams will compete against each other to determine who will be the Under-16 champion of Africa. The participating teams will include, Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Angola, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Burkina Faso, Namibia and the host country Kenya.
“The COPA Africa Cup is a platform that will go a long way in ensuring the students are the next generation of soccer stars. The array of stars the tournament has provided to the national football teams of the participating teams is a testament of the crucial nature of the games. Our partner, The Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) has immensely supported and managed the tourney ensuring success of the games,” said Mr. Evanson Ndungu, Coca-Cola Marketing Manager- Kenya, The Coca-Cola Company, Kenya.
A total of twenty (20) matches will be played over the tournament period. The games format will have the twelve teams being grouped into four groups. Each group will consist of three teams. The best two teams in each group will qualify for the quarter finals. The teams will then head for knock-out matches until the best team wins.

The Coca-Cola Company enables people around the world to experience and celebrate their passion for football. The company has one of the longest corporate partners of FIFA with a formal relationship since 1974 and an official sponsorship of FIFA World Cup™ that began in 1978.
“Previously, the company invested in taking outstanding players in specialized training in the COPA Coca-Cola global camps where they visited most of the football iconic cities. Now, we are exposing the students to friendly professional competitions, a wide range of coaches and scouts from the best football clubs all over Africa in a bid to ensure they are scouted to continue their footballing journey. We urge all football stakeholders; parents, teachers and scouts to walk with us in this journey of unearthing African football talents and skills,” Said Ms. Phillipine Mtikitiki – General Manager, Coca-Cola East & Central Africa Franchise.
The games are part of the company’s wider commitment to improve the sport in the continent. Since 1989, The COPA Coca-Cola tournament has been played in Africa each year with the first country to play the games being Zimbabwe. This is in addition to the company’s investment in the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tours from over the years where the trophy has been visiting more than 50 countries including Kenya to bring the World Cup closer to the people.

Kakamega to host National Term 2 Games plus FEASSSA

Kakamega High School has been designated to host the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term Two Games, as announced by the Ministry of Education.

In a circular, Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok confirmed that the event, which was originally set to take place at Nakuru High School, will now occur in Kakamega from July 29 to August 2.

The Term Two Games will include competitions in football, volleyball, rugby sevens (for both boys and girls), badminton, table tennis, and 3×3 basketball.

Additionally, Musingu High School will organize the Junior Schools and Primary Schools ball games. The Junior Schools games will feature football, volleyball, netball, handball, and 3×3 basketball, while U12 students in the primary games will compete in football, volleyball, netball, and handball. The Special Primary Schools ball games will take place at St Anne’s Girls’ Mumias during the same dates.

Bitok also announced that Kakamega will host the Federation of East African Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) championships from August 14 to 22. During this regional event, Kenya aims to reclaim the overall title, which it last won in 2015 in Huye, Rwanda, while Uganda has dominated the last nine editions. KUPPET rises up to the occasion with goodies for teachers

Leaders of the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers, at County level, have devised new ways of rewarding teachers who excel in sports. From KUPPET branded Polo shirts, tracksuits, drinking water, trophies to cash prizes.

In Kisii county, it was all smiles for teachers whose teams excelled after bagging KUPPET branded track suits. Beneficiaries are those whose teams clinched tickets to the Nyanza region term one championship slated for next week at Rapogi high school in Migori. During the Kisii County championship, that ended on Saturday at Cardinal Otunga High School, participants quenched their thirst by gallons of KUPPET branded water.

The leadership led by the branch Secretary Omari Otungu and Chair Laban Bosire promised more sponsorship next time; with referees requesting for consideration.

In the neighboring county, Migori, it was a similar scenario. The Kuppet branch executive Secretary Orwa samwel (Jasolo) led other leaders to award teachers at the County term one championship that came to a climax over this last weekend. The leadership donated KUPPET branded water, Caps and trophies.

Migori County Executive Secretary Samwel Orwa (Second left) leaders other leaders in donating water during this year’s Migori County Term One Championship.

Nyamira has not been left behind either. The branch leadership, led by executive Secretary Lewis Nyakweba, has come in-handy during the various co-curricular activities’ meets. Teachers and especially coaches and referees have been kitted with KUPPET branded polo shirts; with more goodies lined up this year.

But, the naysayers would have none of this and sees it as a campaigning strategy. “Where have they been? Only waking up in the last minute because of the forth coming elections!” Quipped a teacher who sought for anonymity. KUPPET elections are to be held next year from branch to national level.

Whether a campaigning strategy or not, the bottom line is that indeed KUPPET is doing a great job at Branch level.
