2019 Secondary Schools National Term One Games- Match Preview

The 2019 Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association, KSSSA, National Term One games enter decisive stage today as teams fight for places at tomorrow’s semi finals. Below is a preview for today’s final group matches in Basketball.

BASKETBALL- GIRLS

Holders Kaya Tiwi are eyeing to retain their trophy after recording impressive results in their opening two matches. The Girls from the Coast region mercilessly hammered Mua Girls 110 to 29 in their first match on Tuesday. In their second clash, yesterday, Kaya Tiwi laboured to a 53-49 win over Buru Buru. Kaya Tiwi face Loreto Girls this morning, at 9.00am. Having booked a semis slot, the Coastal champs will be striving to finish top of group B.

Focus will, though, be on the Pool A clash pitting Tigoi against St. Brigids. Both teams are equal on points; with St. Brigid’s sitting at the summit courtesy of their Superior Goal Difference. A win for either team will see them finish top of pool A.

In the boys’ category, defending champs Laiser Hill are firmly on course to retaining their trophy. They recorded a 82-33 win in their opening match against Coast Region’s Agha Khan Academy; on Tuesday. A second win yesterday saw them storm the semis and are poised to finish top of group A; as they face North Eastern’s Darul Hikma who are yet to record a win at this year’s championship. A pulsating encounter is expected between Alliance and Agha Khan Academy. The two teams will be jostling for second spot in the group and thus a ticket to tomorrow’s semis. Agha Khan have a slight edge over their opponents going into today’s clash; as they have a marginally stronger goal difference.

The hottest clash of the day is perhaps the Dagoretti versus the Agoro Sare; pool B match. The two teams have already booked semi finals tickets. But, they will be eyeing to finish top of the group to avoid a possible difficult semi final clash against Laiser Hill. The Lake region champions, Agoro Sare, who are making their maiden appearance at the National Stage have, so far, done excellently well. The Agoro Sare Coaching duo of Sir Ben and Anangwe will be hoping to overcome Dagoretti; coached by the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Chairman, Mr. Peter Oreo.
