KUCCPS Makes Urgent Appeal for Applications as Deadline Nears

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has declared a seven-day application period for KCSE candidates desiring to apply for degree or TVET courses. The cutoff date for submitting applications is April 30, 2025.

KUCCPS has encouraged students to submit their applications before time expires. The portal will shut down once the deadline has passed, leaving those who delay without an opportunity to apply.

Candidates who sat for the 2024 KCSE exams are qualified to apply for degree courses. Nevertheless, students who completed their exams between 2000 and 2024 can apply for TVET programs, which include diplomas, certificates, and artisanal courses.

Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) are also included in the application process. However, these are only available for candidates who took their exams between 2000 and 2024 and are pursuing teaching courses in specific colleges.

KUCCPS has pointed out that degree programs are limited to those who attained a C+ grade or higher in their KCSE exams. This is an essential detail for students seeking to apply for degree courses.

The placement service has raised concerns regarding the insufficient number of applications. As of April 17, more than 100,000 students who qualified for university admission had not yet submitted their applications.

John Oluoch, the KUCCPS Director for Placement and Career Development, encouraged students to act swiftly to ensure they do not miss out. He noted that over half of the eligible candidates had not yet turned in their applications.

The notice acts as a reminder for students to apply promptly, particularly since the portal will be closing shortly. KUCCPS stressed that students should avoid waiting until the last moment to prevent technical difficulties while accessing the portal.

The agency’s plea for timely applications comes after officials observed that many students tend to wait until the last minute to submit their forms, which may lead to unnecessary stress.

With the deadline swiftly approaching, KUCCPS is urging candidates to finalize their applications as soon as possible to secure their positions in the desired programs. The application process will conclude at midnight on April 30, 2025.
