President Uhuru Kenyatta’s official Social Media Accounts have been deactivated this morning. The accounts were suspended on Friday morning following suspected hacking activity after the President reaffirmed his resolve to fight corruption.

“If you are corrupt we will fight you. You can be my brother or my sister or my closest political ally. I won’t be clouded by ethnicity or status in my quest to leave behind a united nation and I will continue championing for Kenya’s unity,” the President had tweeted before his account was hacked.

Mr Nzioka Waita, The Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, has said the accounts have been temporarily suspended to allow necessary action.

“On account of unauthorized access to the official social media handles of H.E the President of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta. All official social media handles for the President have been temporarily suspended to allow for the necessary remedial measures to be undertaken,” said Nzioka.

“It seems the President’s stand on corruption has generated all manner of reactions (including hacking of the President’s Social Media Accounts),” added Nzioki.

Accounts suspended include the President’s Official Facebook and Twitter Accounts.
