Importance of the incorporating technology in sports management

The introduction and deployment of the cloud-based online registration system was a game changer in sports management by the Kenya Secondary Sports Association.

Among the numerous advantages of the deployment of the online data management system include;

  • The ease of access to data in real time,
  • Scalability,
  • Cost efficiency,
  • Remote access,
  • Data analytics,
  • Disaster recovery,
  • Data management,
  • Reporting
  • Certification management.

The impact of the introduction of accreditation cards for students

  1. Access Control and Security:
  • Accreditation cards restrict access to authorized personnel only, preventing unauthorized entry to restricted areas
  • This helps maintain the safety and security of athletes, officials, and event staff.
  • The cards also help manage crowds and prevent overcrowding, ensuring a smooth and efficient event.
  1. Identification and Verification:
  • Accreditation cards clearly identify individuals and their roles within the team, such as athletes, coaches, or medical staff.
  • This simplifies verification processes for security personnel and event organizers.
  • The cards include QR codes and other security features to prevent counterfeiting and ensure authenticity.
  1. Entitlements and Privileges:
  • Accreditation cards can grant access to specific areas and services, such as dining facilities, transportation, or designated seating.
  • These entitlements are often tailored to the individual’s role and their contribution to the team.
  • For example, athletes may have access to training facilities, while coaches may have access to team meeting rooms.
  1. Event Management and Organization:
  • Accreditation cards streamline the management of large-scale sporting events by providing a standardized system for identifying and tracking participants.
  • They help event organizers efficiently manage the flow of people, allocate resources, and ensure that everyone has the necessary access to fulfill their roles.
  • Accreditation data can also be used for reporting and analysis purposes.
  1. Reputation and Recognition:
  • Accreditation can be a mark of quality and recognition for sports teams and their members.
  • The accreditation process itself often involves meeting certain standards of quality and professionalism, which can reflect positively on the team.

Administrator login credentials were granted to the 8 regional secretaries and the 47 county secretaries to manage the games at the respective levels.

Impact of the KSSSA Portal.

  • Only bona fide students were able to compete school KSSSA championships since the rollout of the system.
  • Numerous cases of forgery of documents were unearthed, documented and flagged to ensure that the culprits are barred from participating.
  • System generated accreditation cards were produced for each participant. The cards bear tamper proof security features.

KSSSA is forward thinking to ensure that international best practices are adopted and maintained.
