Individual candidates can check their KCSE results by sending an SMS with their full index number (11digits) followed by the word KCSE. PRECIOUS BLOOD KAGWE GIRLS SECONDARY SCHOOL’S BRIEF HISTORY

Precious Blood Kagwe is a catholic sponsored extra-county public school. It was started in 1966 at the request of the people of Gatamaiyu. Its under the Catholic Archdiocese of Nairobi. It was started by the missionary sisters of Precious Blood.

The first form 1 class was started on 11th February 1966 with 18 students under Sr. Silvana. She managed the school from 1966 to 1971. One of the achievements during this period is the students population increased to 148.
The features in the facility grew as the general science laboratory and the needle work room were put up from the primary school. In 1970 the provincial inspector Mr. Grieves Cook declared it the best Harambee School.
The students sat for the first EACE in 1971 where 18 students out of 21 candidates passed.
In 1972 the first 30 students started the boarding section in a timber building. In 1972, the Archbishop of Nairobi opened the laboratory and hostel buildings. In 1977 the library was built. Sr. Mlanatis C.P.S took over in 1972 up to 1979, Sr. Engelberta Frohlich headed the school from 1980 to 1989. In 1980 H.E. President Daniel Toriotich Arap Moi visited and donated the funds to the school. In 1981, the house system was introduced with 5 houses. Students were awarded merits for good conduct and demerits for broken school rules.
In 1982 H.E. President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi opened a storey building to accommodate 128 girls. Infrastructure grew in the school between 1985 to 1990 which consisted of the construction of the kitchen dining hall, classrooms, staff houses, science laboratories and computer building.
Sr. Maria Pacis Vogel took over in February 1989 to November 1991. Sr Anne Walton headed the school from 1991 to April 2006. The school attained a 33 seater bus in 1999.
The school has excelled in curriculum and Co-Curricular activities. Students have participated up to National level in Science Congress, Sports and Music Festivals. In the year 2000, the  school attained the school of the year award due to its KCSE performance. The students visit nyumbani home which is home to HIV/AIDS infected babies, every term.
The school encourages students to explore their talents through clubs, movements, societies and games.
Mrs. Esther Mathenge took over in May 2006 to December 2006. Mrs. Rose Kiragu took over from her from January 2007 to May 2013.
In December 2007 proposed classroom, department offices, exam room building started. In 2010, the computer room was converted into Administration block which is now the principal office.
The school attained the school van 2011 through CDF LARI. In 2012, the school was registered as a three stream and the name changed to Precious Blood Kagwe.
On 22nd February 2012 by the help of zonal forest manager, Mr. Njenga, the school started the construction of Biogas, on 23rd November the same year, the school received donations of computers from UNEP.
Mrs. Joy Gitonga took over in May 2013 after the transfer of Mrs. Rose Kiragu to Kerugoya girls. The water heating system was then installed. In the same year, Mr. Eliud Muriithi sponsored the sign boards. Bulk sms were introduced and the electric bell.
Mrs. Lucy Mwangi took over from Mrs. Joy Gitonga in January 2019. Currently the school has a population of 883 students. It’s a five streamed school a population of 20 TSC teachers and 16 BOM teachers.
A modern dormitory to accommodate 400 students was completed in 2017. This was started with a harambee presided over by Hon. William Samoei Ruto on 10th July 2015.

Form one selection 2023/2024 results and admission letters; National schools

Usually, students who score above 400 marks are admitted to National schools. This is the main selection criteria. Another criterion is that of affirmative action whereby the Counties facing various challenges would have their cutoff marks lowered.

Another method used to select the form ones is where top candidates from each County get automatic places at the National Schools.

After the selection exercise for the 2023/2024  placement of form ones, they will be expected to download their letters through the Ministry of education’s online portal.

The admission letter is important to both students and Parents/ Guardians. This is because it enables the two parties to prepare adequately for reporting to selected secondary school.

Once the selection exercise is done, students will be notified by the Education Ministry. The students can then download their 2024 form one admission letters by using the procedure below:

  1. Click on this link to access the download page from the Ministry of Education’s Website: Ministry of education download link for form one admssion letter.
  2. Then, Select the county and sub-county where your KCPE centre is located and key in your index number and Submit.
  3. Click on the link named “admission letter” at the bottom of the page for a copy of your admission letter.
  4. Use the printer icon to print or download icon to download to your computer.
  5. Get your primary school’s headteacher to endorse the letter and stamp it in the space provided.
  6. Finally, present it for admission together with a certified copy of birth certificate

But, what are some of the key highlights on the admission letters?

Here are some of the common details on the form one admission letters:

  • All the admission letters bear the Ministry of Education’s letter head; The letter contains the Education Ministry’s logo and head.
  • Name of the student, Index number and Sub County,
  • School admitted to (The Secondary school where the student has been placed),
  • Reporting date; Which is in January, 2024.
  • Former primary school’s details; the letter must be stamped by the head teacher, A disclaimer on the letter reads; “This letter will be authenticated on being duly certified by the primary school head complete with a certified copy of birth certificate and finally confirmed by the admitting principal. The letter is issued without any erasure  or alteration and cannot be changed through any form of endorsement whatsoever; utterance of false documents is an offence punishable by law.”
  • The 2024 fee guidelines from the Ministry (The letter gives fees directions thus; “The maximum fees payable per year is detailed in the attached schedule, do confirm the category of your school before making any payment.”)
  • Parents/ Guardians expected to go to schools where their kids have been placed to pick further joining instructions and requirements. (“Urgently get in touch with your new principal at the above school for admission requirements,” says the admission letter from the Ministry.)

Other details that learners would get from the selected school include:

  • Uniform descriptions,
  • Boarding requirements; mattresses, blankets, e.t.c
  • Any books’ requirements and
  •  Other personal effects as may be prescribed by individual schools.

The Government has insisted on its resolve to ensure 100 percent transition from Primary to secondary schools. Consequently, all the 2023 KCPE candidates will get places at preferred secondary schools.

KCSE 2019 results for Cardinal Otunga High School, Mosocho

Cardinal Otunga High School, Mosocho, in Kisii County managed a mean score of 7.289 in the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE, examination. This was an impressive result that saw the school record a positive deviation of +1.396; from the previous 2018 mean of 5.893. In 2019 the school registered a total of 191 candidates; down from the 208 candidature in 2018.

122 candidates scored a mean grade of C+(plus) and above; hence, booking direct tickets to university. This represented a 63.87% of the total candidature in 2019.  Candidates who scored mean grade of A- (minus) were 7 . Others scored B+ (14), B (29), B- (25) and C+ (47 candidates).

The Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha has today released the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education, KCPE, results. According to the released results, Andy Michael Munyiri is the top candidate. Here are the top candidates:

    4. Sean Ndung’u- 439

2019 KCPE Exams’ General Performance:

  • 401-500 Marks: 9,770 Candidates
  • 301-400 Marks: 243,320 Candidates
  • 201-300 Marks: 586,886 Candidates
  • 101-200 Marks: 262,307 Candidates
  • 000-100 Marks: 1,173 Candidates

Here are the Highlights from the release of the 2019 KCPE Results:

  • TOTAL NUMBER OF CANDIDATES: 1,088,986 Candidates wrote the exam; with 543,000 being boys
  • CONTRACTED PROFESSIONALS: 5,795 Examiners were contracted to mark English Composition and Kiswahili Insha.
  • EXAMINERS WHO LOST LIVES: 3 Examiners lost lives in line of duty.
  • NUMBER OF TEACHERS TO BE INVESTIGATED: 56 Teachers on spotlight over exam malpractices
  •  EXAM LEAKAGES: None of Exam papers leaked.
  • PREGNANCIES: Parents urged to spend time with their children.’ The behaviour of young angels being impregnated by hyenas must stop’.
  • 100% TRANSITION: All children will secure a place in secondary schools.
  • SCHOOLS’ INFRASTRUCTURE: 8 billion set aside to improve infrastructure in primary and secondary schools.
  • FORM ONE 2020 SCHOLARSHIPS: 9,000 scholarships set aside for slum children.
  • GRADE 4 BOOKS: By 17th of December grade 4 textbooks will be availed in schools.
  • FORM ONE SELECTION: Form 1 selection to end by 2nd of December.
  • COUNTIES WITH MORE FEMALES THAN BOYS: 18 Counties registered more female candidates than boys in the 2019 KCPE exams.
  • COUNTIES WITH HIGH CANDIDATURE: Nairobi, Kakamega and Nakuru; respectively.
  • COUNTIES WITH LOW CANDIDATURE: Lamu, Isiolo and Samburu; respectively.
  • IMPROVED SUBJECTS: English, Kenya Sign Language and Religious Education.
  • HOW TO RECEIVE RESULTS: Send SMS to 20076 in the format; INDEXNUMBERKCPE. Do not leave a space in between and write the word KCPE in Capital Letters.

HOW TO RECEIVE THE 2019 KCPE RESULTS

CHECKING KCPE 2019 RESULTS USING SMS CODE 20076

This is the most effective and fastest way of checking for the results. To get KCPE results 2019 by SMS a candidate is required to send an SMS with your Index Number to 20076. The service is viable for all the three network providers in the country Safaricom, Airtel and Telkom networks. Send the SMS in the Format: IndexNumberKCPE; Do not leave a space between Your index number and KCPE. Write KCPE in capital letters.

The cost of each SMS is Sh.25.

Every year the Kenya National Examinations Council, KNEC, administers national examinations for thousands of Candidates in Primary and Secondary Schools. The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) is an exam administered by Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) to mark the end of secondary education level. This exam is usually administered during the month of November and results released before the end of the year. For class 8 candidates, they sit for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education, KCPE, exams.

Marking of the Exams

The KCSE and KCPE exams are marked by trained examiners. The exams are marked at designated marking centres in Nairobi and its environs. This is a rigorous exercise and is closely monitored by the Council and the Government at large. Part of the KCPE scripts (Composition and Insha) are marked by examiners while the other multiple choice exams are marked by fast Optical Mark Recognition Scanners (OMR).

After marking is done, the next step is to collate and analyze the students’ scores. Once computation is over, the results are presented to the Education Cabinet Secretary who first briefs the President before releasing the results to the public in a televised event.

CHECKING KCSE 2019 RESULTS USING SMS CODE 20076

This is the most effective and fastest way of checking for the results. To get KCSE results 2019 by SMS a candidate is required to send an SMS with your Index Number to 20076. The service is viable for all the three network providers in the country Safaricom, Airtel and Telkom networks.

The cost of each SMS is Sh.25.

NB: Candidates must wait for official release of the results before sending an SMS.

To use this method to check 2019 results you only need to remember your index number and access your mobile phone or computer Here is the procedure:

  • Visit the Official KNEC website (knec.ac.ke)
  • Check  for the KCSE/ KCPE Results tab, click on it
  • Select the year you sat for the Exams
  • Enter your Index number.
  • Finally click the Submit button.
  • Your KCSE/ KCPE results should show on the screen after a while.

Finally, candidates can check their KCSE 2019 results by visiting  their former schools a day after the official release of the exam.

Important Notes on Release Of Examinations Results

It is important to note the following concerning the KCSE/ KCPE results released by KNEC;

Examination Results Slips and Printouts

Each of the institutions that enter candidates for the KNEC examinations shall receive a hard copy of the institution’s examination results printout and result slips which captures the following information:

  • Institution’s Code and Name

This appears on the top left side of the printout. The institution’s code is a unique number by which an examination centre is identified by the Council. This is the number that an institution should always quote whenever communicating with KNEC.

  • Candidates Details

Below the institution’s name and code are details of the candidates. These details include the index number of the candidate, year of examination, gender, individual subject grades and the mean grade.

WHAT THE VARIOUS SYMBOLS ON YOUR RESULTS DENOTE

The important features of the examination results are as indicated below:-

  • X – denotes an absent candidate. A candidate is declared absent if he/she did not sit for one or all papers in the examination. However, for the KCPE examination results, the symbol AB indicates an absence;
  • Y- denotes that the candidate was involved in an examination irregularity. For the KCPE examination results, the symbol 00 indicates an irregularity;
  • P- denotes that the candidate’s examination results have been pended due to infringement on the entry requirements for the examination e.g. incorrect KCPE details for entry in KCSE examination;
  • W- denotes that the candidate’s examination results have been withheld on suspicion that the candidate has been involved in an examination malpractice and investigations are ongoing;
  • U- denotes ungraded examination results due to infringement of the awards criteria.

Mean Grade Award Descriptions

  • Mean grade will be X, if a candidate is absent in all subjects
  • Mean grade will be Y, if one or more subjects are cancelled.
  • Mean grade will be U, if the entry requirements for the KCSE examination are not met
  • Mean grade will be CRNM, if the course requirements for the Teacher education, Business and Technical examinations are not met
  • Mean grade will be P, if results are pended
  • Mean grade will be W, if the examination results are withheld;

The details of pended, withheld and irregularities are communicated to the institution through the Sub County Director of Education at the time of release of the examination results and are received by the institutions at the same time with the examination results.

Release Of Certificates

Once certificates for a specific examination are ready for collection/dispatch from KNEC, the institutions shall be informed through the mass and print media, Sub County Directors of Education and/or the heads of institutions.

All certificates for regular candidates are issued through the Heads of Schools/Institutions and to private candidates through the Sub County Directors of Education.
The Kenya National Examinations Council reserves the right to withdraw a certificate for amendment or for any other reason should this be necessary.
Upon the release of KCPE and KCSE examinations, the candidates can access their results through SMS number provided during the official release of results. The KCPE candidates are expected to access their result slips through the KNEC website immediately after release of the examination in their respective schools.

SOSIOT GIRLS’ SECONDARY SCHOOL’S BRIEF HISTORY

Sosiot Girls Secondary School was founded in 1969 on Harambee basis and the Government took over the first and second streams in 1973 and 1982 respectively.

The school, which is currently three streamed, is sponsored by Africa Gospel Church, Kenya and has grown to a County school with a student population of 545. It is purely a girls’ boarding school. The school stands on a 15 acres piece of land, most of which have buildings.

Geographically, the school is situated in Belgut District of Kericho County, about 300km to the west of Nairobi City. It is about 15km west of Kericho town, off Kericho-Kisumu highway. Kericho is located to the Southwest of the Country and lies within the highlands west of the Kenyan Rift Valley. The school is accessed directly through a tarmacked Kapsoit-Sondu road approximately 6km from Kapsoit Market.
