2019 Cecafa U15 Championship in Eritrea- Kenya pooled in group A; Full draws and fixtures

Kenya’s Harambee Junior Stars soccer team has been pooled in Group A of the upcoming Cecafa U-15 Challenge Cup set to be held in Eritrea from August 16 to September 1. Kenya is joined by Eritrea, Burundi and Somalia in the pool. Pool B has Uganda, South Sudan, Ethiopia and Rwanda. While, pool C comprises of Tanzania Djibouti and Sudan. Top three teams will each qualify from pools A and B to the quarter finals and will be joined by the top two teams from pool C.


Kenya will kick off her campaign on August 16, 2019, against Somalia. The final, meanwhile, has been slated for September 1, 2019. The U15 team, meanwhile, has been in residential camp on a homeschooling program since the turn of the year at the FKF National Center of Excellence. The team takes part in the FKF Elite Youth League and will be looking forward to their first major international assignment at the U15 level.

Earlier in 2017, the Junior Stars took part in the Southampton Cup U13 category in England, winning the Shield Trophy.

Soccer- Uganda stuns Kenya 4-0 at the 2019 CECAFA U15 Championship final to lift trophy

The Kenya U15 National team fell 4-0 to Uganda in the final of the CECAFA U15 Championships played on Friday August 30, 2019, at the Asmara Stadium in Eritrea.

A brace by Abasi Kyeyune that came after goals apiece by Devis Ogwal and Travis Mutyaba saw the Junior Stars sum up their campaign with a loss in their final match.

The team had earlier on beaten Rwanda 4-2 in post-match penalties in the semifinals, after a 1-1 draw in normal time, to book a place in the finals.

Prior to that, the Junior Stars had won three matches, against Somalia (3-1), Sudan (4-0) and Eritrea (2-1) and drawn one against Burundi (1-1) to come out top of Group A. The matches were played between August 16, and August 22, 2019.

Kenya’s Lwangu Alvin, pictured, took home the award for best keeper of the tournament.

The team is set to jet back on Saturday evening from Eritrea and will head back to their residence, the FKF Center of Excellence, where they are on a homeschooling program.
