The Ministry of Sports, Culture and Heritage has issued new guidelines and a format to be followed for payment of allowances for all Team Kenya. These guidelines are meant to ensure transparency, accountability and efficiency in the way the athletes and other team managers are remunerated.
From the point where the Federations and the Organizing Committee submit their list of the team and their details, it will take maximum 48hrs to receive their money. All money will be deposited directly in the athletes accounts.
There are two types of forms to be filled; one for Minors and another for all athletes and teams. Under the new guideline, all teams must submit the final list at least 14 days before travel.
All teams will also receive their dues before they travel. The Ministry further releases the step by step stages for processing the payment with each officer handling the process taking personal responsibility and signing for it.
The Federations and Organizing Committees are also required to sign for the information they provide and the timelines they submit their requests.
Athletes will always be paid first. All officials will be paid once they have completed the submission process for the athletes.
All Cash Awards will be paid within two weeks of a team’s return.
The Ministry reiterates the Government commitment and resolve to ensure timely and transparent facilitation and preparation of Team Kenya.
These new guidelines will now put an end to scenarios where sports persons who represent Kenya at various events go for many days before getting their allowances.
