KCSE 2022-2023 Results; The Truth about performance of Kisii & Nyamira schools

There seems to be alot of fake messages around KCSE results.

Let’s note that only 0.13 % of candidates scored an A. 50% of the Candidates scored D+ and below. Agony is we only share the schools that excelled and conclude that all learners leaked exams.

Yes there could have been some leakage but if not reported then it never happened.

The following are As summary in the counties of former Nyanza. There are 320 As out of 1,146As Nationally, of which Gusii got 81As; 320As for Nyanza.

The following is the distribution of the As in former Nyanza province.

1.Siaya 72
2.Migori 61
3.Kisumu 59
4.Kisii 51
5.Homa Bay 47
6.Nyamira 30

The increase in As should be analysed in the following contexts.

1. Gusii schools have more than 40% non Kisiis. Therefore, the excellent results belong to Kenyan students not just Kisiis.

2. There is increase in number of candidates and this will also be reflected in the grade population.

3) Delocalization policy of principals benefited Gusii schools most. Almost 88% of school heads in the region are Luos, Luhyas, Kalenjins and a few from Central region: Nyambaria School had Mr Boaz Owino formerly of Maranda Boys and Cardinal Otunga had Mr Owino from Western.

4. Investments in infrastructure, teaching aids, teachers and other resourcing plus improvements in policies are aimed not just maintaining the results, but improving the grades.

The arguments seems to expect diminished or maintenance of results all years regardless. This is not progressive thinking.

Let’s not stigmatise the Kisiis over the results.

Less we forget foreign/international exams are done in this country. All students score As and A minus. Nobody ever discusses the results.

We need to move the country to a level where all learners pass their exams then we shall be quite the way we are with KPSEA results.

I wish we could also share the results of poor performing schools.I have seen a school mean of 2.1.
