The TSC pay scale for C3 teachers and allowances
Teachers are divided into several categories, each of which pays wages and allowances based on the teacher’s level of experience and professional credentials. The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) just unveiled revised wage packages for teachers who have been promoted to different job levels, which eventually resulted in modifications to the salary system for teachers in the C3 grade.
The compensation for a C3 teacher in TSC has been a major issue for many years, but it was just resolved. The specifics of the amended pay and allowances for C3 instructors are still largely unknown to the general public, despite the significance of these changes. The updated pay and allowance details are covered in this piece. What, then, is the wage for a C3 instructor? Who is eligible for a C3 teacher salary?
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) establishes the Career Progression Guidelines (CPG), which place teachers in Job Group L under the C3 teacher salary. Teachers in this group include Senior Teacher I (primary schools), Senior Master III (secondary schools), and Senior Lecturer III (tertiary institutions).
To be a teacher here, one must have a bachelor’s degree in education or a diploma in education with prior experience, have spent at least three years working in grade C2, and have shown competence in both instructional and administrative duties. They should also enroll in TSC professional development courses if necessary. The pay scale also includes teachers of special needs education (SNE) at primary and secondary schools.
As a new instructor at TSC, you don’t begin at C3 right away; instead, you begin at C1 for elementary teachers with a diploma and C2 for high school teachers with a bachelor’s degree.
After 3 years of experience as a secondary school instructor, you will automatically move to C3. You may then apply for interviews to advance in your job category. You may also attend TSC development programs and apply for promotions as you gain experience.
Even though most individuals are acquainted with the different teacher wage systems, not everyone is aware of the recent changes made to the C3 teacher salary package. In this new TSC grading system, some employment groups were abolished, while others were merged.
The titles for teachers included in the C3 job group, which is categorized under job group 8, are as follows in this revised system: Senior Teacher I, Secondary Teacher I, Lecturer I, SNE Teacher I—Primary, SNE Teacher II—Secondary.
What is the starting pay for a C3 teacher? What are the salaries for secondary school teachers and other members of this group?
The basic pay for teachers ranges from Ksh 43,154 to Ksh 53,943. The actual salary for teachers within this range is determined by a number of variables, such as their specific position, degree of expertise, and assigned duties.
