The Kenya National Secondary Schools Heads Association, KESSHA, has organized a 9 day regional training exercise to sensitize teachers on how to assess project based subjects. The training that is slated for the 22nd to the 31st of January, 2019 will see all Secondary schools heads and teachers handling group IV subjects getting skills on how to assess the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE, project based examinations. The training shall be executed in conjunction with the Kenya National Examinations Council, KNEC, officers; who will give details on the newly introduced interventions in assessing the projects.
Last week KNEC released a circular detailing the changes that it has effected as pertains the assessment of projects in Art & Design (442/3), Agriculture (443/3), Woodwork (444/2), Metal Work (445/2), Building Construction (446/2) and Computer Studies (451/2). According to a circular dated 21st January, 2019 TSC says this training is geared towards enhancing the validity and reliability of KCSE group IV subjects.
Consequently, TSC has written to all County Directors to release principals and the subject teachers to the regional training exercise. “You are required to release the principals and teachers as per the attached schedule,” says Lucy M. Mugambi, the Acting Director in charge of staffing at TSC headquarters. The regional workshops shall be conducted as per the schedule below:
