<h2><span style="color: #ff0000;"><b>LATEST LIST OF OFFENCES THAT CAN LEAD TO REMOVAL FROM THE TSC REGISTER</b></span></h2>
<p>A number of offences can lead to a teacher&#8217;s removal from the Teachers Service Commission, TSC, register. To be on the safe side, it is good that you understand these offences so as to avoid disciplinary action from the Commission. As it is said, &#8216;prevention is better than cure&#8217;, please be advised.</p>
<h2><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>1. Negligence of duty</strong></span></h2>
<p>This includes;</p>
<p>a) Willful neglect to perform any work or careless or improper performance of any work assigned to the teacher.</p>
<p>b)Failure to teach scheduled lessons .</p>
<p>c) Failure to prepare professional documents e. g. schemes of work.</p>
<p>d) Allowing examination cheating.</p>
<p>e) Grading fake marks or favouring some students</p>
<p>f) Failure to perform duties of the teachers on duty</p>
<p>g) Failure to attend school assemblies and official<br />
meetings requested by B.O.M.</p>
<h2><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">2.Chronic absenteeism</span></strong></h2>
<p>If the teacher is involved in persistent or repeated absence from<br />
duty without permission or lateness in duty. This could lead him/her to be deregistered from the list of teachers by TSC.</p>
<h2><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">3. Desertion of duty</span></strong></h2>
<p>Absence from duty for 14 continuous days ( without written permission) including weekends and public holidays. These may include:</p>
<p>a) Failure to report for posting after expiry of study leave.</p>
<p>b) Proceed on study leave without approval.</p>
<p>c) Failure to report to new station after release.</p>
<h2><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>4.Insubordination</strong></span></h2>
<p>Failure to obey instructions from supervisors e.g. Commission Secretary, Heads of Institution, County Directors e.t.c. These includes;</p>
<p>a)Failing to respond to letters from supervisors.</p>
<p>b) Failure to take up posting after disciplinary process/transfer/deployment.</p>
<p>c) Proceeding on transfer without formal release.</p>
<p>d) Failure to forward correspondence by teachers to and from the Commission.</p>
<p>e) Failure to handover/takeover an institution upon transfer.</p>
<p>f) Failure to submit books of accounts.</p>
<h2><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">5. Infamous conduct of any professional respect</span></strong></h2>
<p>If a teacher is involved in the following actions ;</p>
<p>a) Drunkenness or any form of intoxication during working hours.</p>
<p>b) Fighting in public or any violent actions.</p>
<p>c) Behavior that may bring the profession to disrepute.</p>
<p>d) Conduct or behavior which contravenes chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.</p>
<h2><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">6. Forgery/impersonation and corrupt deals / bribery</span></strong></h2>
<p>If the teacher indulges himself/ herself in forgery, impersonation presenting forged documents to the teachers service commission or if a teacher obtains employment through fraud or bribery. These may include;</p>
<p>a) Causing payment of salary to teachers not on duty e.g. desertions, deceased persons.</p>
<p>b) Forged signatures/stamps.</p>
<p>c) Obtaining registration through fraudulent means</p>
<p>d) Submission of forged certificates.</p>
<p>e) Misrepresentation/falsifying information.</p>
<p>f) Some exam malpractices/irregularities.</p>

<h2><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">7. Mismanagement/misappropriation and embezzlement of public funds</span></strong></h2>
<p>Mismanagement is handling of public funds or property in an inefficient,<br />
irregular or in any manner likely to cause loss to the institution.</p>
<p>Misappropriation is use of public funds for unauthorized purposes by a teacher.<br />
Embezzlement is the fraudulent conversion of public funds and property entrusted to a<br />
teacher to personal use.</p>
<h2><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">7. Conviction of criminal offence</span></strong></h2>
<p>A teacher is deregistered upon conviction or being found guilty of a criminal offence( Jailed/fine or non custodial sentence) that may render him or her unfit to perform their duties.</p>
<h2><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">9.Incitement</span></strong></h2>
<p>If a teacher is involved in any way of inciting students to do delinquent deeds like strikes or fires in school.</p>
<h2><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>10.Immoral behavior</strong></span></h2>
<p>Immoral behavior includes sexual intercourse, sodomy, lesbianism, sexual harassment/flirtation and exposure to pornographic materials. If one is found committing such an offence with a fellow colleague or student it leads to deregistration by the teachers service commission.</p>
