More Than 25,000 Teachers Advanced During the National Campaign in 2024/25; This is a Summary by County
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) elevated 25,252 instructors nationwide during the fiscal year 2024–2025, making a substantial step forward in teacher retention, motivation, and school leadership.
This activity, which included employment categories C2 through D5, helped instructors at the primary and secondary levels.
The majority of promotions occurred in grades C4 (8,508) and C3 (4,971), with D1 coming in second (5,425). Given that there were only 47 instructors listed in D5, promotions to higher administrative positions were less common, indicating the competitive and limited availability of these high-level positions.
For example, Bomet County had the highest number of promotions, with 527 instructors receiving them. The distribution was as follows:
2 – 31
108 – C3
C4 – 162
C5 – 120
38 – D1
D2 – 20
44-D3
D4 – 3
D5 – 1
These promotions are part of the TSC’s overall goal of improving the quality of education and learning in Kenya, raising teacher morale, and ensuring career advancement. Additionally, they want to address existing administrative deficiencies and improve school management procedures.
Wajir, Lamu, and Tana River experienced fewer promotions than counties with larger workforce bases, such Machakos (679), Meru (678), and Makueni (668).
The TSC has ensured that the promotion process followed a rigorous merit-based standard, which takes into account performance, leadership potential, years of experience, and credentials.
It is expected that promoted teachers will receive deployment messages in the coming weeks.
As a sign of appreciation for the dedication and hard work of teachers, the education community at large praises this action.
