Coming up in the education sector this week; Release of the 2019 KCSE results and delocalization

<p>It is going to be a beehive of activities in the education sector this week&period; With the marking of the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education &lpar;KCSE&rpar; exams having been completed last week&comma; results are expected any time this week&period; Last year&&num;8217&semi;s results were released on Friday <b>21st December 2018&period; <&sol;b><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The Kenya National Examinations Council&comma; KNEC&comma; is expected to handover the results to the Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha who will in turn brief the President before releasing them to the public&period; The over 699&comma;745 candidates who sat for this year&&num;8217&semi;s exam will be hoping to receive their results before Christmas &lpar;which is next week&rpar;&semi; as promised by Prof Magoha&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>As was the case last year&comma; during the KCSE results&&num;8217&semi; releasing ceremony&comma; the CS is expected to give the names of the most improved students and list of top candidates in the 2019 exams&period; The CS will also give a breakdown of the candidates per grade&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Other details that may be given by the CS include&colon; An analysis of the candidates who sat the exams &lpar;in terms of gender and age among others&rpar; &num;ff00ff&semi;">DELOCALIZATION NEWS<&sol;span><&sol;h3>&NewLine;<p>Apart from the 2019 KCSE results&comma; school administrators who have stayed longer in their current stations and those working in their home counties are expecting to be moved to new stations&period; The Teachers Service Commission&comma; TSC&comma; is in the process of effecting the transfers&semi; otherwise referred to as &&num;8216&semi;delocalization&&num;8217&semi;&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The Commission kicked off the delocalization exercise in January&comma; 2018&period; Other massive deployments would then follow in April&comma; August and December of the same year&period; Though in April&comma; 2019 the Commission slowed down the transfers as only a handful administrators were moved&period; In December&comma; 2018&comma; a total of 3&comma;094 teachers were moved&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Sources familiar with the transfers indicate that the Commission now prefers moving the administrators in December as opposed to April and August to minimize disruptions and for smooth transition&period; The Kenya National Union of Teachers&comma; KNUT&comma; and the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers &lpar;KUPPET&rpar; have been opposed to the massive delocalization exercise&semi; saying it should be executed with a human face&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>TSC has already concluded interviews for 7&comma;000 for schools heads and deputies&&num;8217&semi;
