<p>The 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) top student at Kapsabet Boys high school says he wants to pursue a medicine and surgery course at University of Nairobi to become a doctor.</p>
<p>Justus Kipruto who scored a mean score of A plain of 84 points said his passion for medicine started while in high school citing his love for science subjects. “I believe I will do well in the field of medicine and make a couple of discoveries,” he said.</p>
<p>Speaking at the school grounds after receiving his results, Kipruto attributed his success to discipline and hard work in school and cooperation with teachers.</p>
<p>“My parents always encouraged me not to give up on anything that I desired to achieve. I thank God for the results and my teachers for the support and encouragement. My good performance was a result of team work,” he said.</p>

<p>Kosgei Sila, a representative of the school’s parents said they are very proud of the results. “As parents, we are very happy because of the improvement. We thank teachers and parents for the hard work, commitment and dedication. Attaining a mean grade of 10.1 is not a joke,” he said.</p>
<p>The institution had 482 candidates out of which 52 candidates got A plain, 150 A (-), 53 B+, 71 B, 37 B-, 11 C+ and only eight posted C plain.</p>
<p>The school Chief Principal Kipchumba Maiyo said his students did well and thanked teachers, parents and all stakeholders for a job well done. “We are very grateful to God for the results and every individual who played part to ensure we performed well,” he said.</p>
<p>In the neighbouring Kapsabet girls’ high school, there were celebrations after the school posted improved results with two candidates posting A plain. The school’s Chief Principal Mary Kiprop said she is happy with the results but there is room for improvement.</p>
<p>The institution had 322 candidates, out of which two managed to score A plain, 25 A-, 69 B+, 120 B, 83 B-, 21 C+, and two C plain.</p>
<p>Samoei boys’ secondary school in Nandi hills sub county surprised many by posting good results for the first time in history. The school which is named after the legendary leader Koitalel Samoei had three candidates who score A plain, 50 with A-, 137 B+, 74 B plain, 4 with B- and one C +.</p>
<p>According to the school Principal Kiptoo Kimosop, prayers, dedication and hard work from teachers and parents enabled them to achieve good results. “We thank God and everyone who played a key role to ensure we post good results. It has been a journey,” he said.</p>
