<p>The Ministry of Education has released fees guidelines on implementation of Free Day Secondary Education for 2019. According to the ministry, all learners will continue to receive a capitation of Kshs. 22,244 per year.</p>
<h4 style="text-align: center;"><strong>2019 FEES GUIDELINES FOR DAY SCHOOLS</strong></h4>
<p>Parents with learners in Day Scholars will pay for their kids&#8217; lunch programmes, as has been the case. The ministry will disburse the funds as follows:</p>
<ul>
<li>A sum total of KShs. 11,122 in December 2018; to be used for first term of 2019,</li>
<li>Kshs. 6,673 in April 2019; to be used for second term of 2019 and</li>
<li>KShs. 4,449 in August 2019; meant for term three of 2019.</li>
</ul>
<h4 style="text-align: center;"><strong>2019 FEES STRUCTURE FOR BOARDING SCHOOLS.</strong></h4>
<p>the ministry has categorized the boarding schools into two groups, namely:</p>
<ul>
<li>Category A and</li>
<li>Category B</li>
</ul>
<h4 style="text-align: center;"><strong>1. CATEGORY A BOARDING SCHOOLS</strong></h4>
<p>These are National schools and extra County schools located in: Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Kisumu, Nyeri, Thika and Eldoret. On top of the KShs. 22,244 government subsidy, each parent will pay to the following vote heads, per child in 2019:</p>
<ul>
<li>Boarding equipment and Stores: KShs. 30,385.</li>
<li>Maintenance and improvement: KShs. 2,000.</li>
<li>Other Vote heads(LT &; T, Admin, EWC, PE): kShs. 20,371
<ul>
<li>Activity fees: Kshs. 798.</li>
<li>This brings the total fee obligation for parents per child to KShs. 53,544.</li>
</ul>

</ul>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>2. CATEGORY B BOARDING SCHOOLS</strong></p>
<p>These are boarding schools and extra county schools in other areas. On top of the KShs. 22,244 government subsidy, each parent will pay to the following vote heads, per child in 2019:</p>
<ul>
<li>Boarding equipment and Stores: KShs. 25, 385</li>
<li>Maintenance and improvement: KShs. 2,000</li>
<li>Other Vote heads(LT &; T, Admin, EWC, PE): kShs. 12,900
<ul>
<li>Activity fees: Kshs. 250</li>
<li>This brings the total fee obligation for parents per child to KShs. 40,535.</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>
<h4 style="text-align: center;"><strong>2019 SPECIAL NEEDS EDUCATION SCHOOLS&#8217; FEES</strong></h4>
<p>The government has enhanced capitation to Kshs. 57,974 per child in 2019. The parent&#8217;s fee obligation, on top of the Government&#8217;s subsidy, shall be:</p>
<ul>
<li>Boarding Equipment and stores: KShs. 10,790</li>
<li>Maintenance and improvement: Kshs. 2,000
<ul>
<li>his brings the total fee obligation for parents per child to KShs.12,790.</li>
</ul>
