Equity Bank will tomorrow, Friday 4th January 2019, award the Wings to Fly Scholarships to successful 2018 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education, KCPE, candidates. The lucky students will receive their Secondary Scholarships, ahead of form one reporting date on Monday 7th January, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Wings To Fly scholarship includes: financial support in the form of tuition fees, books, accommodation, uniform, shopping, pocket money and transport to and from school. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, 3rd January 2019, 13 Wings to Fly scholars who scored straight As in the 2018 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE, exams were hosted to a celebratory breakfast by the Equity Group Foundation Executive Chairman, Dr. James Mwangi.
The 13 scholars are among the 315 students who scored A\u2019s in the 2018 national examinations. This is an increase from last year\u2019s nine Wings to Fly students who scored As. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MasterCard Foundation and Equity Group Foundation will be awarding 1,000 scholarships to the 2019 Wings to Fly Scholarships<\/strong> beneficiaries. This will be the 10th Wings To Fly<\/strong> scholars Commissioning ceremony and will be held tomorrow Friday, 4th January 2019 at Kenyatta University, Thika Road, from 9:30 a.m. The event will be aired live on
Citizen TV and K24 from 9:30 am. You can also stream the event live on Equity’s Facebook page or website at https:\/\/t.co\/rXtAZ5BdBM<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

he program targets high achieving yet needy (orphan or vulnerable) students identified by assessing two main criteria based on academic performance at KCPE and social-economic vulnerability as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Academic achievement- Qualifying students must be in the top 5th percentile in KCPE in their District.<\/li>
  2. Students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds \u2013 Eligible students who would not be able to attend secondary school for reasons arising from loss of one or both parents; parents who are unable to educate their children because they are physically or mentally disabled, living with HIV\/AIDS or other chronic debilitating illness; families that have been displaced due to natural disasters such as floods, drought, famine or civil conflict; families that have no evidence of accumulated assets; children who show evidence of bursaries received or financial assistance in the past or who have a past history of school absenteeism due to lack of tuition fees.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
