<h2>TSC Teacher Induction Notes&colon; TIMEC Roles<&sol;h2>&NewLine;<h1>1&period;   Commission Secretary<&sol;h1>&NewLine;<ul>&NewLine;<li>The Commission Secretary&sol; Chief Executive will provide leadership and direction as well as oversee the implementation of the programme&period; The CEO will establish Committees to coordinate the implementation of the programme activities&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<&sol;ul>&NewLine;<h1>2&period;   Steering Committee<&sol;h1>&NewLine;<p>This Committee will be chaired by the Secretary&sol;CEO and shall involve all the Directors at the HQ&period; They are charged with the responsibility of providing leadership in the implementation&comma; quality control&comma; monitoring and evaluation of theprogramme&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<h1>3&period;National Technical Committee<&sol;h1>&NewLine;<p>This Committee will be coordinated by the Director Field Services and will comprise representatives from Directorates&period; They will undertake the following roles&colon; &&num;8211&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<ul>&NewLine;<li>They are Principal Master Trainers &lpar;MTs&rpar;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Organize and train   TOTs   who  will be charged with training Mentors and Coaches<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Provide technical support to the Regional Directors and County Directors&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Coordinate the implementation of the TIMEC programme up to the School level&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Monitor implementation and submit reports on the programme to the Steering<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Preparation of training materials and tools for implementation&comma; monitoring&comma; evaluation and reporting&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<&sol;ul>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<ul>&NewLine;<li><strong>Regional Technical Committee<&sol;strong><&sol;li>&NewLine;<&sol;ul>&NewLine;<p>The Regional Technical Committees will be chaired by the respective Regional Directors and will comprise of the County Directors&comma; Sub County Directors and Curriculum Support Officers&period; They will undertake the following roles&colon;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<ul>&NewLine;<li>Coordinate identification of Mentors and Coaches and maintain a database in respective Regions&sol; Counties&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Organize training and train Mentors and Coaches&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Coordinate the induction of all newly recruited teachers and Administrators&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Supervise the Mentors and Coaches and ensure the roll out of TIMEC up to the school level<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Undertake action research to inform implementation and review of the TIMEC programme&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Monitoring and evaluation of the programme&semi; and<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Report on the progress of the programme implementation to the National Technical<&sol;li>&NewLine;<&sol;ul>&NewLine;<h1>5&period;   County Technical Committee<&sol;h1>&NewLine;<p>The County Technical Committee will be under the respective County Directors&period; The Committee will involve all the Sub County Directors and the County Human Resource Officers &lpar;CHRO&rpar;&period; They shall&colon; &&num;8211&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<ul>&NewLine;<li>Coordinate the identification of Mentors and Coaches and maintain a database of those trained in respective Counties&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Coordinate training and train Mentors and Coaches in the County&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Identify newly recruited teachers&comma; newly appointed School Administrators and teachers who have gone through the discipline process for the necessary support through Induction&comma; Mentorship and Coaching&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Prepare induction schedules and induct newly recruited teachers and newly appointed institutional Administrators&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Coordinate identification of newly appointed Administrators and attach to Mentors and Coaches<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Provide leadership and supervise the implementation of Teacher Induction&comma; Mentorship and Coaching at the School&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Provide quality control&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Monitor and evaluate the programme at the County level&semi; and<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Carry out action research to inform implementation and review of the TIMEC<&sol;li>&NewLine;<&sol;ul>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<ol start&equals;"6">&NewLine;<li><strong>Sub County Technical Committee<&sol;strong><&sol;li>&NewLine;<&sol;ol>&NewLine;<p>This Committee will be chaired by the Sub County Director and will comprise the Teacher Management Officers &lpar;TMOs&rpar;&comma; Sub County Human Resource Officers &lpar;SCHRO&rpar; and Curriculum Support Officers &lpar;CSOs&rpar;&period; They will undertake the following roles&colon; &&num;8211&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<ul>&NewLine;<li>Identify Mentors and  Coaches  in  respective  Sub County who meet the set criteria&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Maintain a databank of all identified and trained Mentors and Coaches in the Sub County&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Coordinate training and train Mentors and Coaches&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Work with Heads of Institutions on the implementation of Teacher Induction&comma; Mentorship and Coaching in each School&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Identify newly appointed Administrators and attach them to Mentors and Coaches<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Provide leadership and supervise the implementation of the programme at the Sub County level&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Provide quality control&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Monitoring and evaluation of  the programme at the Sub County level&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Prepare analyzed implementation reports and submit to County Director<&sol;li>&NewLine;<&sol;ul>&NewLine;<table>&NewLine;<tbody>&NewLine;<tr>&NewLine;<td width&equals;"418">&rcub; their roles include&colon;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<ul>&NewLine;<li>Identifying and selection of Mentors and Coaches at the Institutional level who meet the set criteria&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Assign them identified teachers who require Mentorship and Coaching&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>As a TOT&comma; train Mentors and Coaches at the institutional level&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Establish a Mentorship and Coaching Committee in the Institution<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Institutionalize TIMEC by articulating the benefits of Induction&comma; Mentorship and Coaching as a teacher support initiative aimed at improving conduct and performance&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Schedule and carry out monitoring and support programmes to ensure full integration of the Inductee into the institution&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Mentor and Coach newly appointed Heads of institutions within the Sub-County as well as own staff in the institution&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Create flexibility by allowing for time out for the Mentors&sol;Coaches and Mentees as scheduled&comma; to allow for participation&comma; tracking progress and feedback&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Support Mentors and Coaches to develop relevant activities based on the needs of Mentees at the institutional level&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Sensitize the relevant stakeholders on the strategic benefits of the programme to the institution&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Supervise the implementation of the programme at the institutional level and address any emerging issues accordingly&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Encourage and support eligible teachers to take up Mentorship and Coaching duties and responsibilities in the institution&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Maintain a database of Mentors and Coaches at the School level&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Collaborate with other institutions to strengthen Mentorship programmes at the Sub County&comma; Zonal or cluster groups&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Submit periodic reports on TIMEC implementation to the Sub County Director for Primary and County Director for the Post-Primary institutions&semi; and<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Any other relevant responsibilities assigned from time to time&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<&sol;ul>&NewLine;<h1>8&period; Roles and Responsibilities of  the Mentors&sol;Coaches&colon; &&num;8211&semi;<&sol;h1>&NewLine;<ul>&NewLine;<li>Developing the Mentorship&sol;Coaching Plan with the Mentee based on the identified needs&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Scheduling Mentorship&sol;Coaching meetings with the Mentee&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Providing support by helping to clarify performance goals and development needs&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Mentoring&sol;Coaching&comma; offering Guidance and Counselling to the Mentees&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Assisting the Mentee to achieve the set goals for the Mentorship and Coaching programme and giving feedback as required&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Inspiring Mentees to act by encouraging their own initiative and creativity&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Acting as a role model which requires that Mentors transfer desirable values and actions to Mentees on professional conduct and performance&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Facilitating the development of managerial and technical skills&comma; pointing out specific areas of behavioural improvement by the Mentees where applicable&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Providing Mentorship support activities mainly at the institutional level as well as participating in Sub County&comma; Zonal&sol;cluster group interactions to share ideas and innovations&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Maintain confidentiality at all times&semi; and<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Any other relevant responsibilities assigned from time to time&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Identify areas that require improvement or support to manage&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Be clear about the Mentorship&sol;Coaching goals to be learnt and achieved&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Be proactive about initiating contact with the Mentor&sol; Coach using the various existing communication methods&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Be willing to listen and learn&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Ask for feedback and give feedback when required&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Prepare for meetings ahead of time&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Maintain punctuality at all<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Take responsibility for  continuous improvement and development&semi;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<&sol;ul>&NewLine;
