President Uhuru Kenyatta appoints a new KNEC Chairman to replace Prof Magoha

President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed Dr. John Ondigo Onsati, to be the new chair to the Kenya National Examinations Council, KNEC, for a period of three years. This appointment comes after the elevation of Prof George Magoha to Education Cabinet Secretary’s Position. The two (Prof Magoha and Dr Onsati) had worked together at the KNEC board for three years.

The 66 year old, Dr Onsati, has previously served at the Ministry of Home Affairs – National Youth Service Engineering Institute (NYSEI) as Deputy Principal for two years before becoming the Principal at NYSEI for a year up to 2003.

From 2003 to 2008 he worked under the Teachers Service Commission as Deputy Principal at The Kenya Polytechnic, Senior Principal Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology, before retiring after serving as Senior Principal in Nyeri Technical Training Institute.

Dr Onsati will continue steering KNEC towards completely eliminating cases of examination malpractices; that have otherwise drastically reduced of recent.
