Kaplong Secondary School is in mourning following the death of Principal Mike Yator, who was found dead at his home. KUPPET officials, who quickly arrived at the school after hearing the distressing news, confirmed the situation. Peter Bett, the KUPPET Vice Chair for Bomet, visited the school and expressed his shock, urging the school community to stay calm.

Those who had interacted with the Principal noted that he seemed happy and healthy on Monday as he welcomed students back from the Half Term holidays. Bett mentioned, “He worked diligently to receive the students until around 9:30 pm, when he said he was feeling a bit tired before going to bed.”

The next morning, worried staff members, noticing he had not arrived at the office, went to check on him at home and discovered his lifeless body. His remains were subsequently taken to Siloam Funeral Home in Kericho County.

On behalf of my Executive Secretary, Paul Kimetto, and the entire KUPPET community, I offer my heartfelt condolences to the Principal’s family and friends. This is a significant loss of an outstanding educator.

KUPPET officials from the nearby Kericho County, led by Executive Secretary Mary Rotich and Treasurer Zablon Kipkoech Rono, expressed their shock and disbelief upon learning of the news. They urged everyone to remain calm during this challenging time and extended their sympathies to the Principal’s family, students, teachers, and the entire community.
