<ol class="wp-block-list"><li>TEACHER COMMITS SUICIDE OVER LAPTOPS&#8217; THEFT ALLEGATIONS:</li></ol>



<p>A primary school teacher in Bondo has allegedly committed suicide over school laptops&#8217; theft accusations. Elkana Owino Omondi, a teacher at Migiro Primary, after the school accused him for stealing 2 laptops. His body has since been moved to Bondo Sub County hospital mortuary as police launch a probe into the incident.</p>



<p>2. WOMAN DEFILES BOY IN POLICE CELLS</p>



<p>A woman was yesterday charged with defiling a 15 year old; standard eight boy. Naomi Nechesa allegedly lured the boy into Riruta police cells (where she had been locked up for a different offence) and defiled him. She denied the claims.</p>



<p>3. MANY KENYANS RISK LOSING THEIR VEHICLES:</p>



<p>Many Kenyans could lose their vehicles after it emerged that the National Transport and Safety Authority, NTSA, workers were cloning number plates and fraudulently registering the vehicles for sale. This has led to a situation where more than one vehicle sharing similar registration numbers.</p>



<p>4. COURT LIFTS ARREST WARRANT AGAINST NANDI HILLS MP </p>



<p>An arrest warrant had been issued against Nandi Hills Member of Parliament, Alfred Keter has been rescinded. The warrant had been issued earlier today after he failed to show up at the a Nairobi Court for a hearing of a case where he is accused of fraudulently gaining Kshs 633 Million from the treasury bond.</p>



<p>5. GOVERNMENT TO CARRY OUT FRESH REGISTRATION FOR ALL KENYANS, FOREIGNERS:</p>



<p>The Kenyan Government is set to carry out a national programme for registration of all Locals and Foreigners. This exercise will kick off in mid February, 2019. All Kenyans will register afresh through the National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS) ahead of the National Census in August, 2019. According to the government, you will not get vital services or Identity Cards, Passports, driving licences and birth certificates unless you are registered in NIIMS.</p>



<p>Interior Permanent Secretary, Dr Karanja Kibicho, says the upcoming NIIMS registration drive will involve the capturing of physical biometrics only for purposes of identifying individuals with appreciable accuracy. The pilot exercise is scheduled for 15th February, 2019 in 15 counties. The counties are: Kilifi, Nairobi, Busia, Baringo, Tana River, Makueni, Embu, Marsabit, Uasin Gishu, Nyandarua and Kajiado.</p>



<p>6. AVOID NUTEEZ PEANUT BUTTER!</p>



<p>Nuteez Peanut Butter has been declared unfit for human consumption. This is because it has aflatoxins levels that exceed the required maximum.</p>



<p>7. PRESIDENT UHURU CHAIRS FIRST CABINET MEETING THIS YEAR.</p>



<p>President Uhuru Kenyatta today chaired the first Cabinet meeting at State House, Nairobi. The meeting approved the establishment of a Counter Improvised Explosive Device Centre ( C-IED) at Embakasi Garrison in Nairobi. This comes in the wake of the recent terrorism attack in Nairobi. </p>



<p>8. LICENCES FOR ALL FIRE ARM HOLDERS TO BE VETTED AFRESH.</p>



<p>All fire arm licence and permit holders will undergo mandatory vetting from 4th to 7th February, 2019 in Nairobi region. Dates for vetting at other regions will be announced later. Firearms holders expected to book vetting appointment via firearms.or.ke.</p>



<p>9. NAIROBI UNIVERSITY STILL THE BEST IN EAST AFRICA.</p>



<p>University of Nairobi, UON, is still the best higher learning institution in the East Africa Region. This is according to latest ranking by Webometrics.</p>
