Latest news on the Teremi High School fire tragedy (Photos).

Days after Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha warned students against burning of schools, two dormitories at Teremi High school have gone up in smokes. The cause of the fire that happened on the evening of Thursday 2nd May, 2019, has not been established though.
“Second Term has traditionally posed challenges of indiscipline among students. I direct all school boards of management (BOMs), parents and teachers to hold meetings at the beginning of the term to map out strategies of working to effectively to ensure there will be no student unrest in any institution. Further, education officials should work closely with the Ministry of Interior and National Coordination to ensure our schools are safe,” CS Magoha had directed on Sunday 28th April, 2019. Last year (2018) alone a number of schools’ properties were destroyed by fires in second term.

Here are the photos recorded as the fire raged;

Below is the Statement from Teremi Boys High School ( located in Makuyuni location in Kabuchai Constituency within Bungoma County);

  2. Lack of proper fire safety legislation’s by both government’s. All is due lack of know how, negligence & ignorance. Most principals engage in brokers in supplying sub standards and fake fire fighting equipment with fire risk assessments, survey and recommendations being taken into consideration.
